Damn it all, but here we go again. Yesterday, it was a report that there were 48 hours left to make a May 5 fight between Floyd Mayweather Jr and Manny Pacquiao a reality instead of the non-stop soap opera we've all become increasingly hostile toward.
This morning, here we are: Bob Arum says that Mayweather has until Saturday, and that they're willing to push the fight back until late May, which is kind of a make or break from their side.

Arum says a few things:
After over three years of endless whining and accusations and lawsuits and he said-he said PR back and forth, I almost feel insulted by the idea that this fight can be "made in ten minutes."
One does have to wonder why a move of three weeks, at most, from a May 5 date is some sticking point for the Pacquiao side, namely (at this time) Bob Arum. I do recall something Mayweather's judge in Las Vegas said about giving him time to heal from any potential injuries before he starts his jail time, which is due to begin on June 1, which would have given him around three weeks to heal up. So are they calling him for a date he can't do? Is he tied into May 5 as his fight date?
Hell, why not ask this, too: Even if he were, could he get it delayed another three weeks to help bring in an unheard of amount of money to the state's floundering economy?
The exact terminology used by reporter David "Los Gatos" Rosenberg is that Mayweather has until Saturday to "get the ball rolling," and you know, if Arum said that, God knows what getting the ball rolling would entail. I have no idea. It's loose enough that this all could mean nothing.
I'm at the point where I'm throwing my hands up here. I'm not going to pretend I have an idea where this is going, other than to say I put the odds of the fight actually happening in May at about 12%, which may be 12% higher than someone whose sense of imagination or wonder or optimism with the sport of boxing has been brutally murdered by this entire debacle.
As Cliff Rold said at BoxingScene.com, "Make the fight or shut the hell up already."

So Pacquiao’s cut no longer is or never was a problem and Arum’s now fine with the MGM Grand. Why exactly then does May 5th no longer work then? Also, will Top Rank be bringing back the legendary Countdown Clock to demonstrate how serious they are about this “get the ball rolling” demand?

No logical reason that anyone can understand. Arum just doesn’t want someone he hates dictating terms of the fight. It’s pathetic.

And vice versa
This whole thing has just been beyond ridiculous.

Scott – If you decide that it’s just too damn frustrating to write any further articles about this herd of ass-clowns I’d be totally OK with it. I’d rather be blissfully unaware of how Arum / Pacquaio / Mayweather jerk each other off rather than actually making a damn fight. I hate these f__king idiots.

My displeasure with certain aspects of boxing fuels my love of other aspects of boxing.

No, keep us updated please.
Im twisted. I love to hate everything that is going on between both sides right now.
Im currently writing an economics dissertation on the economics behind boxing contracts. I find this all fasinating

Arum just knows how much of a kicking his side has taken in the PR war in the last few day so he had to come out with something like this so when the fight doesnt end up happening he can say ‘Look i tried. Mayweather didn’t want it.’
It’s gettin to the point where all these insults to our intelligence are far more annoying than the fight not happening. Really wish theyd all just keep their traps shut

I thought he needed til the end of May to build the new stadium? Why is it still end of May. BTW, I read that the surgeon that said Manny cut won’t be healed until June 1 is also dating Arum’s daughter. How nice.

Yeah… sure you want that date, yeah.

Unelated
But Kenny Anderson has been granted a shot at Groves british title in a rematch by the BBBC. Has to happen before June I think

Nice.
Groves TKO’s him again though, for my money.

Mayweather got the ball rolling when he booked May 5th. This reminds me of neighborhood fights when I was growing up. It’s clear to me that team Pacquiao doesn’t want to fight. They can call it business or negotiation but to me it’s hesitation. Arum can be referred to by a P letter word right now.. And it’s not punk.

sighs…..we’ve done this countdown before..and it has gotten us nowhere..gb will surely guarantee floyds cut..i mean floyd has made 40 million his last two fights and gb has been right there..they will surely guarantee him in the richest boxing fight in history.
still dont see why end of may and not cinco de mayo unless arum is trying to do an event in vegas that weekend or is it more of him not wanting to let floyd control the date of the fight..10 minutes? you havent been able to make a deal in 2 years plus..
the fight will not happen and the finger pointing will begin
