David Haye has confirmed he is staying in shape in case a fight can be made with either of the Klitschko brothers.

Haye retired in October last year after being dominated for 12 rounds by Wladimir Klitschko, which many will remember for Haye's toe injury claim after the fight. A rematch with Wladimir and a possible clash with Vitali, Wladimir's older brother have been mentioned a lot since Haye retired on his birthday in October.

Despite his poor performance in Germany in July, Haye believes that if either fight was to materialise he would become Heavyweight Champion again. The 31-year-old was interviewed by the BBC on Monday, having just completed a training session in his gym in London.

I'm going to stay in shape if that call comes, and if it does come I will be heavyweight champion again. I've always trained to stay in shape and I train every day. If there is a fight that pops up - against Vitali or Wladimir - I'll be in shape and ready to go to war and win back my old titles.

Before any more talks take place, Vitali has to do battle with fellow Brit Dereck Chisora on Feburary 18th, while Wladimir faces Jean-Marc Mormek - a former opponent of Haye's from his Cruiserweight days. A second fight with Wladimir seems unlikely, but a 2012 clash with WBC holder Vitali could be a possibility if both camps can agree a fair deal.

My people are talking loosely with Vitali's people and they have shown a keen interest in a potential fight. It's down to Vitali, he seems very keen to knock me out. Not only to fight me, but to do what his brother Wladimir couldn't do and put me on the canvas. It depends on how much he wants to put me on the canvas.

Haye's reputation was tarnished after he blew his big opportunity to become unified Heavyweight Champion. In general I like David Haye, he was a fantastic cruiserweight who had plenty of power. When it came to moving up to Heavyweight he did well, but his opponents were on the decline. He gave boxing the headlines it needed, especially at Heavyweight level where a new lease of life was needed in my opinion. Against Wladimir he MIGHT at a push have a chance - if he came out and went for the KO and landed some big shots on his chin. On the other hand, Vitali wouldn't give Haye the chance and the personal problems between the two could make for a tasty fight...if it happens.
