Here's a video clip from HBO's "On Freddie Roach" series, directed by Peter Berg. The series debuts on Friday at 9:30 p.m. EST.
"When I can't do mitts anymore, I'm gonna quit. Because I won't be able to really get to the fighter, and really inside his head, and make him believe in himself and me also. I hope I work 'til I die. If I die doin' the mitts, I don't want that fighter to be fuckin' sad. I want him to be happy. I had it coming."
We'll have a couple more clips from the show up today, and I can now say I'm truly looking forward to the series -- this looks terrific, and it appears Berg has dug a lot deeper into the man, both in and out of boxing. That's what we were hoping to see. It looks extremely promising from the preview clips, far more personal and intimate than anything we've seen on "24/7" or any of the other recent boxing series from HBO or Showtime.
