When Marco Antonio Rubio signed his next fight Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., we all knew that he had an uphill battle. Unfortunately, we have seen too many fights where the guy who was supposed to win gets gifted a decision. The most egregious recent example of this kind of robbery was the Paul Williams's "win" over Erislandy Lara. Lara was consistently landing the clean, effective punches in every round yet he still lost a decision. At least for Rubio's next fight, he realizes that he can't leave the decision in the hands of the judge. He made the following statement to Miguel Rivera of Boxing Scene.
"The knockout is needed. We all know that Chavez has a lot going for him...television and [he's with] the promoter of show, so we're going to look for a knockout from the first round. There is a strong favoritism with him in boxing because of his father. He has the [Chavez] name and he has the backing of the promoter, so obviously they will not want his fighter to lose and that is why we we're forced to look for the knockout. Julio is a magnet at the box office and we will take advantage of that to try and build our name."
It is a shame that boxing works this way. The box office draw gets all the advantages even if he isn't that good of a boxer. If the fight is in Texas, I can't imagine that Rubio will get a fair shake. I just hope that Lawrence Cole isn't the ref. I know I am very cynical, but do you guys think that Rubio can get a fair shake in his upcoming fight?

If he fights incredibly well but loses
He still wins IMO. The audience he will have will be huge so he need to perform.

Zbik, by general standards, fought Chavez close, won in my opinion, and lost the fight. I’m struggling to see how that was a benefit to him, considering the likelihood he’ll be back on HBO any time soon (none).The game is full of fighters who fought close fights, lost, and were promptly forgotten.

If Rubio gets the win, it would be a late stoppage. Chavez is a slow starter and not reckless enough to get caught early.

we dont like bs decisions if rubio wins the ppl will expect fair score cards. i do beleive rubio will get the ko no doubt about it.

It is obvious to us but it seems like it surprises some people (Amir Khan, Paulie Malinaggi, Erislandy Lara, etc.), so its nice to see a fighter admit what he is up against.

I wouldn’t say it caught Malignaggi by surprise. He made a big deal about it before his fight with Diaz. He basically told everybody HOW he was going to get robbed in that first fight.
