Guillermo Rigondeaux has generated a good bit of buzz since his easy win last Friday over Rico Ramos at the Palms in Las Vegas, but nobody was interested enough beforehand to actually attend the fight.

Figures for the show were bleak, as the fight sold a meager 375 tickets, with a gate of $14,525 total. Thank heavens for site fees and TV packaging this time.

Here are the purses from the card:

Fighter A Purse Fighter B Purse
Rico Ramos $55,000 Guillermo Rigondeaux $51,500
Joel Diaz Jr $5,000 Guy Robb $5,000
Matt Villanueva $3,000 Michael Ruiz Jr $3,500
Javier Molina $2,500 Albert Herrera $3,500
Razvan Cojanu $500 Rodney Hernandez $1,200
Yusmani Abreu-Mena $800 Marcus Robinson $1,000

When all was said and done and all of the fees and other miscellaneous whatnot was taken out of the purses, Ramos walked away with $44,261 in his net contestant's share, compared to $28,950 for Rigondeaux.

Ouch.
Do you have the tv ratings for this event and NBC Fight Night?

No. I’ve never seen a ShoBox number reported, and Showtime numbers are rare to find anyway. The major ratings tracker sites don’t bother to follow boxing much at all, and definitely not second-tier boxing.

You sure it was 375? That sounds a little high,

High? That sounds so absurdly low. I feel like I could promote a fight between Jack and Joe down the street and get those numbers.

Diaz and Robb deserve that main event money.

And Ramos deserves Cojanu money

Yeah and that ref should fork over half his pay for that stoppage.

With the amount Diaz fights in a year, 5,000 ain’t so bad. He has fought 5 times in 365 days (I believe) and though he obviously hasn’t made 5,000 each fight, he made it here, and has another fight in February. I like this kid. He’s probably into cool music, or maybe skateboarding… He’s my punk rock princess, and I’m his garage-band king. XO Joel Diaz Jr. I hope to see more from you.

Didn’t promoter Dan Goossen turn down 200k from Bob Arum to stage the fight on the Cotto-Margarito PPV ? If I remember correctly and this is the case… it seems to have been a somewhat uninspired financial decision.

and a win for the fans as we saw wolak rodriguez 2 instead of a fight where one man decided not to throw..
