Oh my God, the fake Gus Johnson canned commentary over highlights of the first fight is driving me insane.
Yesterday, we took a look at the compelling Johnny Tapia interview of Victor Ortiz. Now here's Andre Berto.
Tapia: So what do you think about this fight?
Berto: It's gonna be a good fight, man. The first one was exciting. This fight here is gonna be another exciting fight, I'm looking forward to it. I believe this is gonna be Fight of the Year. I believe the last fight was Fight of the Year, so I believe this right here is gonna be the Fight of the Year.
Tapia: Are you gonna take it to the trenches? Are you gonna box him? You gonna do both?
Berto: I'm gonna just work everything. I'm gonna work everything in my game. Whatever works is gonna work. But I'm definitely gonna be there for a hard 12 rounds.
Tapia: You guys got one-punch knockout (power), so it's either you hit him with the right or you hit him with the left. What did you think about the first fight when you dropped him?
Berto: I felt like I let him off the hook a little bit. I didn't get on him like I needed to.
Tapia: But then he caught you.
Berto: Yeah, so I need to make sure when I get him hurt this time, make sure to take him out.
Tapia: What's the difference between the first fight?
Berto: Just my focus is completely different. Extremely focused on this fight. Extremely motivated, you know what I mean? I gave up a title just to make this happen. So he gots to go.
All I can really add here is that Andre Berto is no Victor Ortiz when it comes to interviews.

Berto needs to focus on WINNING the fight
and not being involved in a fight of the year.
When you’re involved in a “Fight OF The Year”, that means you’re opponent was giving just as good as he was taking. I dont want to be in that fight. I want to dominate my opponent from the opening bell.

Like really terrible over-acting that becomes great (Voight comes to mind), I can’t get enough of Tapia.

Tapia and Jane Couch are currently my two favorite interviewers. Unlike professional media people, they might ask a real question, and I think that makes their interviewees sort of uncomfortable and nervous at times. It’s great.
