Kimbo Slice will be back in a boxing ring on February 11 in Springfield, Missouri, as the 37-year-old former streetfight king and UFC also-ran continues an alleged boxing career against another stiff opponent.
Slice (3-0, 2 KO) fought three times for Gary Shaw Productions in 2010, beating a collection of guys so bad that they make Mike Lee's opponents look good, and he'll continue in that direction next time out, facing Robert Bruce (2-0, 2 KO).
Bruce, 29, is indeed undefeated, but he also hasn't fought in five years, beat two guys he outweighed by 51 and 60 pounds, and neither of his previous opponents had ever boxed before. The second opponent was Eric Crittendon, who has been around as a knockaround guy since then.
I've said before I've got no problem with Kimbo, really, and I don't. He seems like an alright guy. But I do have a problem with talking about his "boxing career" as if there's any substance to it. He's going to do this until he gets bored and the first half-decent guy he fights will smoke him. It's really that simple. He's not good enough and he's too old.

Can I ask why he would come to Springfield, Missouri to fight? Seems like a ver random place to me.

Any more random than Miami, Oklahoma and Grand Island, Nebraska?

I guess that’s a good point. I would think it would maybe be best if he just fought somewhere consistent and they tried to build him up there.

*Do you really think the Klitschko brothers could handle Slice’s power? Do you really think you know better than Jared “mouthpiece for the ladies” Shaw? I think the sky is the limit for this somewhat hungry former pornographic company bodyguard!

If you hate talking about it, don't.

Yeah I’m not really into tuning out and pretending things I don’t like don’t exist, sorry.
Scott Christ - January 3, 2012
But you can. He’s not a boxer so why bother with it.

Because it should be called what it is. Boxing is a world of press releases and fluff. If no one says anything otherwise then the Jared Shaw view is all there is.
