The sixth round of last year's fight between Victor Ortiz and Andre Berto was really great. Here's a Fight Camp 360° bonus clip of the two fighters analyzing and reliving the great round. Hold on to your seats.
GUS JOHNSON DIDN'T CALL THIS FIGHT.
Ortiz: "The infamous round six."
in·fa·mous / ˈinfəməs /
Adjective:
Well known for some bad quality or deed.
Wicked; abominable: "infamous misconduct".
Well this is off to a great start.

Ortiz: "The fight by this point has been a brutal one. Huhuhuh. Back and forth. This is what boxing is famous for. These kinds of fights. I'll be honest, it excited me seeing this fight again.
Berto: "Mm. Right over the straight left. Bap. Right over the top of the straight left. Bap. There it is again. Right over the top of that straight left. Thought I killed him."
Tony Morgan: "Boom. Monstrous right hand Berto hit him with."
Berto: "He got back up. I couldn't believe he got up."
Ortiz: "Boom. Connects nice. Connects, ooh, he connected me really nice right there. Huhuhuh! That was really nice. I'm sure anybody else he probably woulda put their lights out."
Morgan: "Very surprised Victor jumped right back up after that. After seeing Victor's history, very surprised."
Ortiz: "Everybody thought this fight was gonna end right here. They said it was, uh, it was a repeat of Maidana-Ortiz."
Danny Garcia: "The people was remembering about the last fight when he fought Maidana, it's what everybody said that Victor didn't have a heart. He does have a heart. Bigger than Berto."
Things we've learned so far:
* No. Ortiz had actually fought five times between Maidana and Berto, four of which were coddling gimme fights.
Ortiz: "Here we go, buddy. I'm done running, alright?"
Berto: "He's hurt. Bum. Referee looking to stop it at any time. Here he comes. When he comes, he comes like a bull. Psssh. That looks ridiculous.
Ortiz: "Woooo timbeeeer."
This was a convincing moment of charisma. I really felt it when he said "timbeeer."
Berto: "Down I go. I'm smiling because I couldn't believe it. I'm looking at my corner smiling like, 'This is crazy.'"
Tony Morgan: "Victor touches him with -- I don't even know what it is. I call it a bitchsmack, and Berto falls."
Ortiz: "Then it goes hook, boom! I floor him. I looked at him and I just said, 'Woo, that looks like it hurt.'"
Berto: "Looked like he just slapped me. Looked like he just slapped me. I wasn't really hurt at all. I'm just sittin' there lookin' like, did my legs just really just give out on me, like, really? Um ... it's crazy."
I have to be fair here. Berto is just about as peculiar as Ortiz. He just says less silly things, less often.
That said, this was pretty cool. It's goofy because it involves Ortiz and Berto, but getting to know Tony Morgan better could be a great result of FC360°.
Here's the full schedule for the show, which premieres on February 1 at 10 p.m. EST/PST on Showtime.

I like that Tony Morgan calls him “Berto” and not “Andre.”

Berto
He has this “I can’t believe I lost to this guy” look on his face the whole time he is watching the video. I feel like he is just brooding, waiting to absolutely destroy Ortiz in the ring when they meet on February 11th.

Unless he has learned not to get hit with everything thrown at him, I think he’s going to have a really hard for him to “absolutely destroy Ortiz.”
Should be a great fight.

Curious to see the difference in stamina. Conte has had a good period of time to work with Berto and it should help him especially since he didn’t know that he was anemic.
Waldo Rastel - January 30, 2012
Perhaps.
On the other hand, Ortiz had Berto in serious trouble in round 1, way before stamina should have been an issue.

Was just going to say… Berto never really recovered from the shellacking he took early on.
Berto clearly still has an absurdly large ego. You can tell he hasn’t really accepted that he got his ass kicked by the better man that night….

Well speaking to that point, it seems that Berto severely underestimated Ortiz (I think he may have admitted to that as well), which is something that he won’t do in this fight. I expect the best out of Berto in this fight, as opposed to the version in the first fight who looked like he was sleepwalking through the fight.

It is amazing how many people are actually guzzling down the anemic story.
Zocalo - January 31, 2012
Not all of us. Very convenient thing for Conte to “fix.”
BoxAnne - January 31, 2012
Yeah I’ve had my doubts too. Still do. Who knows?
Scott Christ - January 31, 2012
But I am extremely skeptical by nature.
Scott Christ - January 31, 2012
Anemia had nothing to do with his getting clocked bt Ortiz early

I got that impression from Berto as well. Though I’m openly pulling for Ortiz in this one. Just because I want him to continue to be in high profile fights where he can share his wisdom with the world during the build up.

I agree. Berto looks legit embarassed that he lost to Ortiz.

Both guys really have to labor in order to put together cohesive sentences. I wish they would analyze the whole fight just for comedic value.
Kory Kitchen - January 30, 2012
just read from dan rafael that the fight may be postponed….berto injured his arm….bummer…
jake_ash - January 30, 2012
Freakin’ crap. I was honestly really looking forward to it. Now Ortiz can have his rematch with Floyd! Yeah!
Kory Kitchen - January 30, 2012
Really? That would suck so bad. This was a great first ‘big’ fight of the year for Showtime.
