Lightweight prospect Luis Ramos Jr stayed undefeated with a hard-fought, 10-round unanimous decision win over top gatekeeper Raymundo Beltran tonight on ShoBox, winning on debated scores of 97-93, 97-93 and 96-94. Bad Left Hook scored it 96-94 for Beltran.

Like last May on ShoBox, when Beltran was narrowly outpointed by Sharif Bogere, the man most famous for being Manny Pacquiao's longest-tenured sparring partner had more than a good enough case to have his hand raised, but it didn't happen. Now 25-6 (17 KO), the 30-year-old Beltran is in a really tough spot for a pro fighter. He's really pretty good, and a great test for these high-level prospects like Ramos and Beltran, but he's in the position where he needs them in order to get a real "chance," too, and he's probably feeling as if he's not going to get fair shakes, and that he has to do something more special than a star fighter would have to do to win a fight.

Anyway, to be more positive, it was a very good fight, and Beltran once again proved his serious value at this level. He could maybe be a little bit more, but the boxing machine being what it is, he'll probably never get that chance.

I guess that wasn't very positive at all.

So glad that I wasted my time just to watch Beltran get shafted on Shobox again.

feel bad for the guy

what a string of bad luck, its almost as if he needs the KO to have a chance at a title.

curious incident – later in the fight, ramos got hit right on his cut eye and put his hand over it in pain. the ref then called time out. i could understand calling time if it was another headbutt, but it was clearly a punch. surprised the shobox team didnt even say anything.
