Samuel Vargas vs Manolis Plaitis: Live Streaming Video and Round-By-Round Coverage

Samuel Vargas and Brandon Cook are in action tonight in Ontario.

Samuel Vargas and Brandon Cook are in action tonight in Ontario.

Live video is available via UStream and Boxing Channel.

I'm joining the card a hair late myself, but it's still very early in the show, and the main event and most of the card is still to come. Tonight in Mississauga, Ontario, there's some live boxing going down, and since Ortiz vs Berto was supposed to happen tonight, we've got the room to cover some of the more unsung fighters in the boxing world, so we will.

In the main event, Samuel Vargas (8-0-1, 2 KO) meets Manolis Plaitis (17-1-1, 8 KO) in a 10-round welterweight bout. Vargas, a Colombian-born fighter now based in Ontario, had a great fight last year with Ahmad Cheikho.

Won't lie and say it's the biggest show in the world, but you'll get a chance to see some fighters you otherwise wouldn't, and hey, it's boxing, you know what I mean? Let's watch some boxing. Let's talk about some boxing. Let's do this, you guys. It'll be fun. I promise.

Round 3 right now for Denton Daley (4-0, 2 KO) and Benito Quiroz (6-1, 6 KO). cruiserweights, 6 rounds

Daley pulled a Mayorga “not hurtin me bro” bit in the second round. Syd Vanderpool training Daley.

Daley’s one of those Roy idolizers

idolizers is not a word obviously

Round three really sloppy. Daley is one of those guys in love with himself.

Daley coming out Roy-ing in round 4.

Our own Andrew Fruman calls Quiroz “a homeless man’s Librado Andrade.” Spot-on.

Daley having no trouble other than the trouble that he’s not quite the stud he thinks he is.

Daley reminds me of Roy Jones, but the Jones who fought Omar Sheika. He’s definitely in control, just a raw prospect who is obsessed with flash.

That eye is looking ugly, though it could be my stream quality. Still boxing is boxing!

The eye’s in bad shape indeed.

Daley wins 60-54, 60-54, 60-54

Got the (choppy) stream going after a bit of struggle. Eye does look bad. Glad to see this, Saturday night without boxing just ain’t right.

Denton Daley: “I’ve been out of the ring over a year. I just wanted to get hit. It sounds weird, but…”

I like how Thomas Treiber turns up everywhere. Daley sounds like a nice guy.

Weird, Michael Oliveira really IS fighting on this show…and supposedly on Friday on ShoBox, too.

Michael Oliveira (16-0, 12 KO) vs Sergei Melis (18-7, 7 KO)

Ok, Scott, you’ve sold me.

Stream up, ready to go.

[pouring cognac]

now I’m ready to go

Oh it’s Maker’s Mark o’clock up in here

Corey Erdman: “They really give out those WBC world champion t-shirts to just about anyone, don’t they?”

Refreshing to see just a plain blue canvas.

lots of decent trades in 1, I thought

god, Oliveira sucks. I try not to be that blunt, but…

Let's be positive!

two guys actually mixing it up a bit in there. Rather this than paying to watch someone take a dump against a Klitschko

Yeah, yeah. But he’s really not good at all. The Oliveira press releases get out of hand.

Anyone have any idea who won Prizefighter today?

Adil Anwar over Tyrone Nurse.

Anyone of future interest on here?

There aren’t any future stars on the show. Just worth seeing these guys basically, in case they pop up on a Shobox or something eventually.

Vargas is a lot of fun. Oliveira is Oliveira.

I recall Vargas from before.

Does this boxing channel show live stuff often?

Sometimes – smaller shows from Canada, Dominican, Colombia, etc.

Oliveira vs Melis a pretty good fight. All competitive rounds through 4.

Melis has won at least two of these five rounds.

I’ve got this 3-3 after six. Oliveira is really struggling.

Oliveira just got CRACKED in the sixth. He’s hurt.

Boy, Oliveira taunts like a doofus, gets booed, and then gets smacked again.

4-3, 67-66 for Melis through seven. This is the final round. Brazil Duddy is probably up 5-2 on the real cards.

man, Melis is taking another round. Oliveira is really not good.

Pretty entertaining fight for the three rounds I came in on.

5-3, 77-75 for Melis on my card. Best I could honestly see for Oliveira is a draw.

that was fun

Yeah, pretty good fight. I don’t mind watching Oliveira, but he’s got no future as a contender at all.

Long time to get the scores. Jeez.

79-73, 77-75, 77-75 for Oliveira. That 79-73 card is awful. Absolutely awful.

Frankly the other two cards for Oliveira aren’t good either.

Soon as I heard the 79 score I knew it’d be some kind of robbery!

“He’s a great fighter,” says Oliveira. Not really. Says he’d like to have a rematch.

Oliveira might be best off fighting retired lightweight Popo Freitas instead of fellow middleweights. He promises the Freitas fight. OH GOODIE

The production values on this stream are a real mixed bag…

Also going to throw out there that Sal Sanchez II is fighting on the free WBC site tonight for anyone interested. Not sure who would be but yeah haha.

Middleweights, 6 Rounds: Brandon Cook (4-0, 2 KO) vs Chris Aucoin (4-5-1, 0 KO)

Why is he the “Bad Boy”? Does he smoke reefers or disrespect authority or the like? Did he do time in JUVIE?

I can tell by his slightly spiky haircut that he is his own man

Erdman notes Cook’s “shiny new Rival trunks”

Another pretty fun fight so far!

Man this fight is sloppy. But better than FNF.

I’m having a 90s party for my birthday next month and building a music playlist for it. It appears in Canada that the songs are still quite relevant.

little phone booth action. lovin it

I thought he didn’t look comfortable in the first two rounds. Cook’s a phone booth guy through and through.

Bless him.

good fight. Not pretty, but good.

Yeah, good fight. I’m liking the commentators for this fight a lot too.

58-56, 59-55, 60-54 for Cook

hahaha audio comes in on “shit”

awesome. Just awesome

wrong camera angle, guys

who doesn’t want an 20 foot aerial view of hot chicks? lol

bro did you see the top of that one girl’s head

I love the super saturated sound. I have trouble dialing in something that sounds that fuzzy for my guitar.

Main event is next

Mississauga is not particularly pretty, it’s a more industrial town, but it has a huge mall

Trash talking during the instructions

That’s that. Vargas just teed off on him eventually. Good stuff.

Platis still down, but he’s stirring and trying to get up. Docs are on him.

BTW, what’s up with aerial shots DURING the fight?

Canada.

Ontario actually. I’ve seen broadcasts from the Prairies and I’d never seen that before.

Canada.

ugh Rogers sports, no wonder…

nope

that was just the in house guy for the video screens. Those shots were never on TV, they just like to use that shot too much in there.

That was fast. That guy was out pretty bad.

So am I on the right channel on this boxing channel website? Do I need to hit a link or something? Seem to be running back to back to back pre-recorded and unrelated videos.

oh – it’s over isn’t it.

yeah, main event ended in a TK1… pretty KO
