On Saturday night in Mississauga, Ontario, Samuel Vargas and Brandon Cook were both successful in fights at the Hershey Centre. Here are some quick quotes from the two victorious fighters, and make sure to check out our full recap if you missed that.

Samuel Vargas

"I just keep learning every fight. I didn't have a long amateur career and I've learned how to throw a good punch. All of my improvements and added power are thanks to my trainer, Billy Martin.

"Because of where I came from, through all of the struggles, this fight meant much more to me than winning my first title belt. This country means so much to me. I can't put into words what winning this Canadian belt really means to me. This was a great accomplishment because of the long road I've taken. There were a lot of people there cheering my name. It was exciting.

"You know, I love Montreal. Four of my first five pro fights were there. The people are very nice, but, right now I don't think they like me too. Hey, that's boxing."

After the jump, some photos from the fights.

This is really cool seeing someone I know (Brandon Cook) covered on this site, but out of all the lower level developmental (I don’t know the proper term, but you know what I mean I think) boxing cards being held all over the world, why this one?

With Ortiz vs Berto canceled, my Saturday night was free. This was streamed live and legal on Saturday night, starting at a fairly early time, so I watched and did a recap and all that. As for this particular post, Hennessy Sports sent out some photos and quotes, so I shared.

I see. I’ve sparred with Brandon quite a few times in the past so it was cool seeing him on here.
