At yesterday's media workout's, Nonito Donaire took some time to have some fun with the members of the media. He played a game called "Guess Who?" where he would impersonate several famous boxers and the media would try to guess who he was trying to impersonate. I'm not going to name all of them here, I'll let you have the experience of trying to figure it out.
I don't know about you guys, but I usually like to see these types of videos. It shows me that Donaire has a personality and has a sense of humor. It is interesting to see how relaxed he seems to be with a giant fight on the horizon. On the other hand, with all of the talk of potential opponents, this might be another piece of evidence suggesting that Donaire is not taking this fight serious. He could be looking past a dangerous opponent in Wilfredo Vasquez Jr, and it could lead to a fairly large upset.

Personally, I'm a huge fan of Nonito Donaire, but I really don't like where he is at mentally this week. Compare his actions and words to another Bay Area talent, Andre Ward. Andre always has a great deal of respect for his opponents and he always has a laser focus. Even Floyd with all of his smack talking, always looks focused on the task at hand.
Donaire looks like he is goofing around and doesn't have a care in the world. Could this just be Donaire's style? Could this show that Donaire is relaxed and ready? Sure, but Donaire has a bit of a history of being disinterested in fights. There were a string of fights where he was toying with his opponents and he tried to fight as a southpaw. He looked absolutely terrible in those fights and it was a far cry from the sensation we saw against Fernando Montiel. So the big question is are we going to get the sensational Donaire or the disinterested Donaire?

Well, I’ll say this, he’s good at impressions. Most of those were spot on. There was only one I never found out which one it was, the one after Mayweather I think.

It was Roy Jones Jr.

This video was awesome. I think JMM was the best.
The Boxer Rebellion - February 2, 2012

Apprentice - February 2, 2012

Yeah that makes a lot more sense
Apprentice - February 3, 2012
The very last one was Martinez. Making fun of how he slips and throws haymakers.
RyanSexton - February 3, 2012
It was Darchiniyan

this highlights for me that Donaire is running his own show. He doesn’t have anyone to keep him in line.

The amount of respect Vazquez is getting reminds me of the respect (or lack of) that Jorge Arce was getting going into the Vazquez fight. While Donaire deserves to be the favorite and should win, this fight really has my interest.

Mine, too. I’m a bigger Vazquez fan than most, so I was wondering if it was just me starting to think he was being too ignored as even a guy who will be in the ring on Saturday. I’m pretty much dismissing his chances too, because I think Donaire is just better than him, but I do know he’s there and a live body and a legit first fight at 122 for Donaire.

Dang
That was good!! :-)

Donaire became a star beating Montiel
He needs to remember that.
He had a tendency to be inconsistent in the past and now, with the lights shining that much brighter, he needs to stay focused all night. All fight.
This joking is all well and fine….but come fight night he needs to be focused like a laser.
pakinpower - February 3, 2012
thats good
Sweet science - February 3, 2012
LOL. That was entertaining. Hopefully that is just his personality and he is ready to go.
jerranamo - February 3, 2012
Donaire is an almost alarmingly laid back fighter. I’m sure he’s 100% ready to go.
Scott Christ - February 3, 2012
particulary like Bam Bam's
Sweet science - February 3, 2012
The head snapping back was absolutely perfect.
Waldo Rastel - February 3, 2012
relax, he is just foooling around, i’ve seen videos of manny doing the same thing, joking, and fooling, i’m pretty sure that vazquez won’t win this fight, i know that is the firts time nonito is fighting in this weight, but that won’t be a problem…
EL CIERTO (VEN) - February 3, 2012
Vazquez has no shot at all..
Donaire will be too fast/big for him and will stop him before the 8th round.
Frank Lee - February 3, 2012
Donaire was given no shot against Darchinyan. He was actually a bigger underdog against Darchinyan than Vazquez is against him. I’m sure everyone knows how that turned out. Like I said Donaire deserves to be the favorite and should win. But I’m not a fan of saying a fighter of Vazquez caliber has not shot. Especially when he’s being treated as an afterthought.
Eugene Banks - February 3, 2012
I don't think so
Donaire is like a 15 to 1 favorite in this. Darchinyan wasn’t that big of a favorite.
Frank Lee - February 3, 2012
The 2nd impression was Roger Mayweather on the pads
Craig111 - February 3, 2012
They way he did the Marquez impression was perfect and hitting the mitts exactly like Marquez.
