Scott Quigg defends his British super bantamweight title today against Jamie Arthur in Bolton, live on Sky Sports, and Bad Left Hook will have live, round-by-round coverage. Dave Oakes will handle the round-by-round duties.
The fight will go live at 3 p.m. EST.
Here's a snip from Dave's preview of the fight:
Arthur has slight height and reach advantages over Quigg, though Quigg is the much more powerful physically and in terms of punch power. Quigg is also the fresher fighter and looks to be the hungrier - Arthur’s coquetry with retirement may be a sign that he’s not as ambitious as he once was, although we won’t be able to tell until fight night.
If Arthur still has the desire to become a champion, he could put up a sterling effort, even if it’s most likely to be in vain. If Arthur doesn’t have the fire in his belly, Quigg could steam roll him. One senses it could be somewhere between the two, Arthur giving it a go in the first four rounds but going into his shell as he realises the monumental task in front of him.

On the Undercard
Former world title challenger Rendall Munroe (23-2, 9 KO) faces Argentina's Jose Saez (21-12-6, 11 KO) in a third straight tune-up sort of fight following his loss to Toshiaki Nishioka.
Cruiserweight prospect Matty Askin (12-0, 8 KO) takes on Attila Palko (12-1, 10 KO) of Hungary.
Bantamweight Craig Lyon (12-1-1, 4 KO) looks to get his first win in three outings, facing veteran Yuriy Voronin (21-13-2, 16 KO).
Former European super featherweight champ Stephen Foster Jr (28-3-1, 18 KO) meets Yauheni Kruhlik (10-13-3, 2 KO) in a bounce-back fight.

Looking forward to this one
I got Quigg in under 6
Like to see what Askin looks like too
Sweet science - February 4, 2012
I’m going Quigg in three or four.
Askin fought already, btw, according to Hatton’s Twitter.
Scott Christ - February 4, 2012
Im pretty sure Sky will feature him
No spoilers otherwise your banned!
Sweet science - February 4, 2012
Should be a good night of boxing.
Dave Oakes - February 4, 2012
Got Quigg on the TV
And BN on laptop
Yeah, good assesment
Sweet science - February 4, 2012
Good going. I’m concentrating solely on this fight.
Dave Oakes - February 4, 2012
BN on the laptop? I’m getting increasingly pissed off by their refusal to offer the service on the Internet. I’m paying the tenner a month but unable to watch a thing because I’m at university and the channel is only available on TV. I signed up in December, just before the Cotto fight, because it said ‘Internet viewing will become available very soon’ or something along those lines, and it still says exactly the same thing. They haven’t responded to ANY of my queries either. Really, really pissing me off.
Oli Goldstein - February 4, 2012
You need a stream
Il sort you out if you want?
Sweet science - February 4, 2012
stop with the streams. Can’t have it. Network policy. Above my pay grade.
Scott Christ - February 4, 2012
Sorry
Sweet science - February 4, 2012
Not your fault at all, just had to say it.
Scott Christ - February 4, 2012
Thanks but don’t worry, I have an essay to write anyway. Just felt that was an apt time to vent my fury with Box Nation right now!
Oli Goldstein - February 4, 2012
lol
At least Arsenal won for you today
RVP with a cool 40 points for my D Team too
Sweet science - February 4, 2012
Oh, today was wonderful, no doubt. Best footballer the Premiership has ever seen, best footballer in the Premiership today, and the best footballer in the Premiership in the future all scoring. Absolutely glorious!
Oli Goldstein - February 4, 2012
well....... Bebe will have a word or two about best footballer the PL has ever seen
Sweet science - February 4, 2012
And Rio Ferdinand. Hahahahahahahahaha
Dave Oakes - February 4, 2012
And I’ll give you Park Chu-Young to match your Bebe! Mwahahaha! Crap footballers… ASSEMBLE!
Oli Goldstein - February 4, 2012
lol
Can’t beat a good Massimo Taibi
And I think I have it bad with De Gea……
Sweet science - February 4, 2012
And the show is about to start. I’m sure we’ll have 20 mins of talking before any action gets underway. And I’ve just received a text telling me some of the undercard results. I hate it when that happens. The person who text me should know better as well.
Dave Oakes - February 4, 2012
As Scott says
The Askin fight had already been fought
Im staying well away from Twitter though
Sweet science - February 4, 2012
I always stay away from Twitter – I don’t really understand it.
Dave Oakes - February 4, 2012
Or should I say, I don’t really understand the appeal of it.
Dave Oakes - February 4, 2012
Im just getting to grips with it
But yeah, I prefer FaceBook
I do a little writing on Man Utd, so it is handy for keeping up to date with players. For instance the Ravel Morrison transfer was quite fascinating
(Big game next week)
Sweet science - February 4, 2012
I’ve no idea what a Facebook is.
Dave Oakes - February 4, 2012
lol
Sweet science - February 4, 2012
I don;t like any of that stuff myself, facebook even less so.
Matt Mosley - February 4, 2012
Did your reply to the text say “F**k Off, you tw*t!” :)
Matt Mosley - February 4, 2012
No, but he’ll read this and realize his grave error.
Dave Oakes - February 4, 2012
Joe Murray up first
Sweet science - February 4, 2012
I like Murray, he lacks a bit of power though.
Dave Oakes - February 4, 2012
I know i shouldn’t prejudge the lad but something about Joe Murray just irks me.
Plus i just don’t think he’s gonna get that far.
Matt Mosley - February 4, 2012
He’s a nice lad. It must be the ginger hair.
Dave Oakes - February 4, 2012
And the fact he’s a Manc!
Dave Oakes - February 4, 2012
here we go.....
Sweet science - February 4, 2012
I think it could be the ginger hair, which i’m actually disappointed in myself for thinking. :)
He seems like an OK lad on tv.
I think it’s also partly to do with the amateur credentials and therefore the bit of pro hype he got. I know he got less than most of the others but i also thought he was the least impressive of the Olympians from 2008.
I hope he proves me wrong.
Boxing needs more ginger warriors.
Matt Mosley - February 4, 2012
I’ve got it. Not only is it the carrot top, it’s the ginger chin strap.
Matt Mosley - February 4, 2012
Racist!
Dave Oakes - February 4, 2012
haha
Matt Mosley - February 4, 2012
As John Terry says
You have to look at the “context” in which it was said
Sweet science - February 4, 2012
Joe seems to have got the same trait as John
Can’t block an uppercut
Sweet science - February 4, 2012
Yeah, he’s better defensively than John but there’s still things he can work on.
Dave Oakes - February 4, 2012
In his favour, he can always hope to dazzle opponents with his orabge barnet.
Matt Mosley - February 4, 2012
orange
Matt Mosley - February 4, 2012
Just makes his head a target
Like a beacon
Sweet science - February 4, 2012
Round 1 – Murray will be hoping to impress here. Murray looking for the left hook counter. He lands a nice right and is looking fairly sharp. Murray gets caught with the uppercut a couple of times. Close first round but Murray edges it.
Dave Oakes - February 4, 2012
Crowd is as dead as the Kop
After a John O shea winner
Sweet science - February 4, 2012
Did ’pool lose?
DPlainview - February 4, 2012
Play tomorrow I think
Or maybe Monday evening
I referring to past events :) Which im sure still haunt Dave
Sweet science - February 4, 2012
Yeah, thanks for bringing back bad memories.
Dave Oakes - February 4, 2012
Anytime mate
Sweet science - February 4, 2012
No problem. Good luck in the F.A Cup this season!
Dave Oakes - February 4, 2012
I predict we beat you by a three goal margin next week
Fucking De Gea though….. He will be good one day, but not anytime in the next 5 years
Sweet science - February 4, 2012
Lad needs to hit the weights. Van Der Saar to do a Scholes?
Dave Oakes - February 4, 2012
Yeah I have said that, regarding the Gym
He also seems afraid to put his body on the line
And yeah… I wish
To be fair, Scholes was dominating last week untill Fergie fucked it up and went 4-4-2 at his expense
Sweet science - February 4, 2012
I’m sure they will do fine in the Carling Cup or the Champions League….
Waldo Rastel - February 4, 2012
Liverpool's CL run this year was V impressive
Sweet science - February 4, 2012
About as impressive as United’s.
Dave Oakes - February 4, 2012
WE WON ONE GAME :)
Sweet science - February 4, 2012
Round 2 – Fast straight right from Murray, crafty right hook to the body by Murray and a good follow up flurry – most of which miss to be honest. Murray’s round but he’s not dominating.
Dave Oakes - February 4, 2012
better round for Joe
Sweet science - February 4, 2012
Round 3 – Much of the same.30-27 for Murray.
Dave Oakes - February 4, 2012
Is Murray considered to be a blue chip prospect in England?
DPlainview - February 4, 2012
Murray looking quite awful tbh
Winning the fight but….. looking so sloppy
Sweet science - February 4, 2012
Round 4 – Murray missing a lot, he does get a straight right home but it’s sporadic successes for Murray. Still Murray’s round but he’s not setting the place alight by any means.
Dave Oakes - February 4, 2012
Looking all out of sorts
work rate is doing it just about
Sweet science - February 4, 2012
Round 5 – Murray could do with stepping up the pace here. Murray gets caught going back in a straight line – amateur mistake. You can tell Murray has been out of action for 8 months, he’s struggling with his timing. The fact he’s throwing too many single shots isn’t helping him. Closer round. I’m scoring it even, Murray was the busier but he wasn’t landing much.
Dave Oakes - February 4, 2012
Murray’s opponent is awkwardly effective
DPlainview - February 4, 2012
I feel Murray is making him look more awkward than he is. He needs to throw 3 or 4 at a time.
Dave Oakes - February 4, 2012
The jab isn't landing either
Not helping at all
Sweet science - February 4, 2012
Round 6 – Good right from Murray early but struggles to land a follow up shot. In fact, he’s not landed anything in the following 3o seconds. Nice left hook to the body by Murray was partially blocked. Again Murray’s the busier, his opponent isn’t doing much at all apart from avoiding punches, he’s not coming back with hhis own shots. Murray’s round.
Dave Oakes - February 4, 2012
On the plus side he is getting some rounds in
Sweet science - February 4, 2012
Hopefully this makes him
work harder in the gym
Sweet science - February 4, 2012
He needs them. I’d have him out again in the next 4 to 6 weeks after this fight.
Dave Oakes - February 4, 2012
Yeah sure
I hate how some prospects take so long between fights
They should be fighting at least once every two months IMO early on in their career
Sweet science - February 4, 2012
he's blowong big time in the corner too
Sweet science - February 4, 2012
blowing*
Sweet science - February 4, 2012
I’m a touch surprised at that. Then again, he has been missing a lot, which does tire you out.
Dave Oakes - February 4, 2012
and he has been out of the ring for 8 months (ish)
Sweet science - February 4, 2012
Round 7 – Decent left hook brushes the chin of Graterol. Murray still missing, Grat doing nothing, very negative. Murray trying to get up on his toes more, still missing wildly though. Graterol throws a few punches in the last 30 seconds, Murray responds but nothing much is landing. Murray’s round, just.
Dave Oakes - February 4, 2012
got some rd’s in
DPlainview - February 4, 2012
Round 8 – Final round of a pretty dull fight. And it’s much of the same again, Murray missing, Graterol not doing much. Good left hook to the body by Murray, and another one 30 seconds later.
I’ve got it 80-73 for Murray. It wasn’t a great performance but that will have helped shed some of the ring rust.
Dave Oakes - February 4, 2012
Genius Joe Murray
Anything but after that performance
Sweet science - February 4, 2012
that’s a weird boxing nickname……
DPlainview - February 4, 2012
I can only assume he’s an expert on Pythagorean theorem.
Dave Oakes - February 4, 2012
lol
Sweet science - February 4, 2012
the straw hat is a giveaway
DPlainview - February 4, 2012
I think the ref scored it 80-72, I’m unsure as I’m having sound problems.
Dave Oakes - February 4, 2012
Has he mugged a scarecrow?
Dave Oakes - February 4, 2012
What is Ed Robinson doing putting his fist's up half heartedly
Sweet science - February 4, 2012
I’m pretty certain Robinson had a couple of fights in the mid 90’s. You wouldn’t think it looking at him there.
Dave Oakes - February 4, 2012
Didn't know that
Sweet science - February 4, 2012
Whats your picks for Quigg?
I got it for under 6
Sweet science - February 4, 2012
I think it’ll end around the 8th or 9th.
Dave Oakes - February 4, 2012
I’ll go 4 officially
Scott Christ - February 4, 2012
Il pick 5 then
Sweet science - February 4, 2012
i was goin for 4 but now i’ll have to go 3. Just to be different
whypunchrabbits? - February 4, 2012
Is anyone else having sound problems with Sky? It sounds like Jamie Moore is rapping on my screen.
Dave Oakes - February 4, 2012
Nah im good
Sweet science - February 4, 2012
You think the snow is disrupting the signal?
Providing you have got snow?
Sweet science - February 4, 2012
Possibly.
Dave Oakes - February 4, 2012
Does Arthur have the power to keep Quigg off him?
DPlainview - February 4, 2012
No, he isn’t a puncher at all.
Dave Oakes - February 4, 2012
Not a chance
Sweet science - February 4, 2012
An advert for the Ronnie Wood show on Sky Arts, that’s got to be a ‘must watch’.
Dave Oakes - February 4, 2012
haha
He was a Stone not a beetle wern’t he
Sweet science - February 4, 2012
I love Ronnie Wood, he’s always entertaining. I’d take him over McCartney any day of the week. George Harrison tops them both though.
Dave Oakes - February 4, 2012
SS…………..what are Quigg’s weaknesses?
DPlainview - February 4, 2012
He’s very well rounded. better on the front foot IMO as he had lethal body shots
Maybe could work on his defense just a tad, but at this level, no major weaknesses has shown IMO (But I am by no means and expert in the technical side of the sport)
Sweet science - February 4, 2012
And my picture is down. This could be an awful round by round.
Dave Oakes - February 4, 2012
You want me to try and take care of it?
Sweet science - February 4, 2012
No. Pic is back at the minute. Thanks anyway.
Dave Oakes - February 4, 2012
Quigg is coming out to “Not Afraid”. Jamie Arthur’s probably quite chuffed about that, really.
Oli Goldstein - February 4, 2012
top 5 overused boxing entrance song
Scott Christ - February 4, 2012
I’ve never heard it before, then again, not my kind of music so I wouldn’t remember if I had.
Dave Oakes - February 4, 2012
Lets go Jamie!
alargar - February 4, 2012
Good luck with that :)
Sweet science - February 4, 2012
Introductions nearly done. Quigg looks focused, Arthur looks fairly relaxed.
Dave Oakes - February 4, 2012
Here we go.
DrRck - February 4, 2012
No kidding, how is the weather there?
DrRck - February 4, 2012
White :)
Sweet science - February 4, 2012
Bloody freezing and white.
Dave Oakes - February 4, 2012
I really feel for all you folks; I’ve been reading about it.
DrRck - February 4, 2012
Well, it is February.Kind if expected it.
This winter is mild compared to last year.
Matt Mosley - February 4, 2012
We were nearly destroyed last year, here in Massachusetts. This year, except for a few days (including the October surprise), we never got out of autumn.
DrRck - February 4, 2012
Quigg taking his time
Arther round though
Sweet science - February 4, 2012
“Get after the Welsh b*stard” some drunk in the crowd shouts.
Matt Mosley - February 4, 2012
Welcome to Bolton.
Dave Oakes - February 4, 2012
Arthur doesn’t look intimidated at all
DPlainview - February 4, 2012
Round 1 – Patient start by Quigg, he’s looking for openings rather than trying to force them. Arthur misses with an overhand right. Quiet round, both fighters are having a look, not rushing into anything. Even round 10-10.
Dave Oakes - February 4, 2012
thought it was slight to Arthur…………but close
DPlainview - February 4, 2012
Quigg round that
Keeping a nice tight guard but also getting through with his own shots
19 – 19 for me
Sweet science - February 4, 2012
tactical………….not too thrilling
DPlainview - February 4, 2012
Round 2 – Nice right from Quigg, and another moments later. Arthur not landing and starting to get countered a bit more this round. I’m not sure if Arthur landed a single shot in that round. Quigg’s round. 20-19 Quigg
Dave Oakes - February 4, 2012
Certainly nothing that was not partially blocked
Sweet science - February 4, 2012
Good round for Quigg. Looks really good defensively
whypunchrabbits? - February 4, 2012
He’s got a very solid defence, keeps his hands up nice and tight.
Dave Oakes - February 4, 2012
A rare sight for a british prospect
Sweet science - February 4, 2012
Indeed.
Dave Oakes - February 4, 2012
Openeing up a tad now
Sweet science - February 4, 2012
29 - 28 Quigg
Winged in a couple of his body shots. Would like to see him chuck a couple more of those. They are vicious when he commts to them
Sweet science - February 4, 2012
my third round prediction looking rather silly right about now
whypunchrabbits? - February 4, 2012
Round 3 – I missed half of the round due to lack of signal, from what I saw, it looks like the fight hasn’t caught fire yet. Quigg edged the round, just.
Dave Oakes - February 4, 2012
Wow
Sweet science - February 4, 2012
Something exciting?
DrRck - February 4, 2012
Quigg down on his ass
Got his legs back now
Sweet science - February 4, 2012
Thanks. I got carried away following the thread.
DrRck - February 4, 2012
Holy SHIT
DPlainview - February 4, 2012
Sounds like something happened.
DrRck - February 4, 2012
boxing can be so awesome
DPlainview - February 4, 2012
…oh my god.
Scott Christ - February 4, 2012
This coming from a guy with only 4 KO’s
Matt Mosley - February 4, 2012
FFS
I feel your signal problems Dave
Sweet science - February 4, 2012
Ditto.
DrRck - February 4, 2012
I thought Arthur was looking sharp from the offset.
Matt Mosley - February 4, 2012
great fucking rd!
DPlainview - February 4, 2012
Superb contest so far. Whats all this Felix Sturm missing person advert on the side?
Randomperson - February 4, 2012
Probably put up by Matt Macklin or Martin Murray.
Matt Mosley - February 4, 2012
Arthur is countering nicely, imo.
Matt Mosley - February 4, 2012
Round 4 – Nearly a minute in and Quigg gets floored by a big right hand. That’s hurt him, Arthur looking for the finish. Quigg hurt for the first time in his career, he’s starting to get his legs back now and is looking to trade, and lands a massive left hook that knocks Arthur’s head back.
Er, it’s fair to say the fight has now caught fire.
10-8 round for Arthur.
Dave Oakes - February 4, 2012
what is happening? Has Arthur knocked down Quigg?
LtfcPete - February 4, 2012
Yes
Matt Mosley - February 4, 2012
Thanks
LtfcPete - February 4, 2012
didn’t look to big of a shot
DPlainview - February 4, 2012
Replay shows it was actually a left hook that floored Quigg.
Dave Oakes - February 4, 2012
yes
DPlainview - February 4, 2012
KD seemed to wake Quigg up
DPlainview - February 4, 2012
Wow.
Scott Christ - February 4, 2012
another big left hook from Arthur………….very gutsy stuff
DPlainview - February 4, 2012
boxing is marvellous
whypunchrabbits? - February 4, 2012
Not to take anything away from Arthur but as Jamie Moore says, i think Quigg was slightly off balance when he went down.
Matt Mosley - February 4, 2012
Round 5 – Quigg is letting his hands go now. I think the knockdown has embarrassed him and he wants show who the boss is in this round. Great left hook to the bbody by Quigg, Arthur responds with two of his own. A good left hook to the head by Quigg, whose starting to bully Arthur, who catches Quigg coming in with an uppercut.
I don’t think anyone was predicting a fight like this. Quigg finishes the round strongly, landing some classy shots.
Quigg’s round. 48-47 Quigg.
Dave Oakes - February 4, 2012
Quigg showed in that round why he is one of the best prospects in Britain
Poured it on his man. Used those body shots and pbacked him up
Sweet science - February 4, 2012
Yes, the body shots will be telling methinks.
Matt Mosley - February 4, 2012
Wear him out fot the later rds.
Matt Mosley - February 4, 2012
I do think Quigg has become more of a Gallagher-type fighter recently – perhaps too much, to be honest. Before moving to Joe’s gym, he used to fight with the left hand held a lot lower and in turn looked to draw leads and throw right hand counters, particularly from the right hand. Now, while he’s still defensively strong because of his good feet and quick reflexes, he doesn’t throw nearly anywhere near as many counter shots because of the high guard. For a guy with such good timing, I kind of feel that the high guard can actually be unnecessarily conservative. I don’t know – might just be me.
Oli Goldstein - February 4, 2012
Meant to say particularly with the uppercut, but y’all know what I mean.
Oli Goldstein - February 4, 2012
I think it’s definitely harder to counter form a high guard. You have less options with your shots.
Matt Mosley - February 4, 2012
Yeah, exactly. Quigg isn’t John Murray – he’s got such excellent balance and good upper body movement that he doesn’t need to keep both hands so high or move in straight lines. It won’t make too much difference at this level, but against better fighters, I really hope Quigg isn’t held back.
Oli Goldstein - February 4, 2012
One thing that holds Khan back
And Khan holds his hands in a way that he can’t even see the punches coming
Sweet science - February 4, 2012
Khan fights like a novice at times, imo.
Matt Mosley - February 4, 2012
Man…………Quigg is ripping that body hard
DPlainview - February 4, 2012
Quigg really turning it up.
Scott Christ - February 4, 2012
Power difference is showing
DPlainview - February 4, 2012
Round 6 – This is more like it from Quigg, defence is back to being tight and he’s landing some neat body shots. Arthur still doing well and attacking the body himself. Quigg’s strength starting to have an effect, he’s pushing Arthur back and catching him to head and body.
Big round for Quigg.
58-56 Quigg.
Dave Oakes - February 4, 2012
Arthurs right eye is markin up nicely
whypunchrabbits? - February 4, 2012
He marks up and cuts easily does Arthur. It could be a problem as the fight progresses.
Dave Oakes - February 4, 2012
indeed
good going on the rbr Dave, just caught up here. Was expecting this to be relatively easy, like most…
BrianBrock - February 4, 2012
Quigg’s fighting like a man possessed, great stuff!
Sammlung - February 4, 2012
Arthur showing great heart and chin
DPlainview - February 4, 2012
Can’t see this going on too much longer
DPlainview - February 4, 2012
Round 7 – Quigg landing some heavy blows, a good solid right lands on Arthur who is trapped against the ropes. Massive right counter by Quigg, I think that had an effect on Arthur, another one seconds later, Quigg is getting to Arthur. Arthur showing his toughness under a monstrous barrage of blows from Quigg. Arthur’s cut by the right eye.
Quigg round. 68-65 Quigg
Dave Oakes - February 4, 2012
Steve Cunningham making his way to the ring over here:

Join us when you’re done here, enjoy the rest of the fight!
Scott Christ - February 4, 2012
Oh, boy.
DrRck - February 4, 2012
Can’t decide if im more or less impressed with Quigg than i was before the fight started
whypunchrabbits? - February 4, 2012
I’m probably a bit less impressed, but I was about as high on Quigg as possible. He needed to look human eventually, but this kind of reminds me of Groves-Anderson.
Scott Christ - February 4, 2012
True, though im probably a bit more impressed, just as it’s always nice to know a fighter has the bottle and the aggression and ego to come back from a knockdown like that. He was fighting like mans possessed those last few rounds
whypunchrabbits? - February 4, 2012
It was a flash knockdown, not as bad as it first looked. I liked how Quigg took a knee, took the count and then got up, that shows good boxing intelligence. The way he fought back was impressive as well. All in all, a good learning fight for him.
Dave Oakes - February 4, 2012
totally agreed
whypunchrabbits? - February 4, 2012
damn………that’s it
DPlainview - February 4, 2012
Are you kidding me?
alargar - February 4, 2012
You know, that was weird, but I can’t complain about the stoppage b/c he turned his back.
schraubd - February 4, 2012
wtf? thats bullshit.
Sammlung - February 4, 2012
That is pathetic.
Oli Goldstein - February 4, 2012
Don’t just stop if ref you fucking idiot!!!
Matt Mosley - February 4, 2012
Come on
gthat looked like a house fighter stoppage.
Give him a fucking count at least!
Matt Mosley - February 4, 2012
You’ve got to be kidding me..
alargar - February 4, 2012
impressive last few rds by Quigg
DPlainview - February 4, 2012
ref shat his pants
whypunchrabbits? - February 4, 2012
Ugh, sounds like horseshit.
Scott Christ - February 4, 2012
Huh. Good reminder of why you never don’t face your opponent.
El Destruyo - February 4, 2012
great left hook to the body
DPlainview - February 4, 2012
Round 8 – Arthur needs to get himself back into it here, which is easy for me to say from the comfort of a my PC chair. Solid left hook to the body by Arthur, AND THE REF STOPS IT. Shocking stoppage, absolutely shocking, the shot hurt Arthur but it wasn’t enough for a stoppage.
Dave Oakes - February 4, 2012
Haha
Matt Mosley - February 4, 2012
he didn’t protest………….turned his back………….no issues with the stoppage. It was going to end soon anyway.
DPlainview - February 4, 2012
Are standing 8 counts allowed in the UK?
Verklemptomaniac - February 4, 2012
No
Dave Oakes - February 4, 2012
I see it as a bad heat-of-the-moment decision, which is at least different from being an ignorant decision. Seriously, do not turn your back on your opponent, ever.
El Destruyo - February 4, 2012
Arthur turned away after the shot landed but he span back around to face Quigg, the ref jumped in too soon for me. Quigg may have finished it shortly after that with another body shot, or even a head shot as Arthur was trying to recover but it wasn’t a stoppage for me.
Dave Oakes - February 4, 2012
Star referee
You f*cking kidding me?!
Matt Mosley - February 4, 2012
It seemed a bit early, but that was a really bad reaction from Arthur, which made it look like he was really hurt, like either a broken rib or a really good liver shot. I understand why the ref would want to jump in there.
Verklemptomaniac - February 4, 2012
I can understand why he jumped in but I don’t agree with it.
Dave Oakes - February 4, 2012
Body shots
Love how he whipped them in. Should have went down their sooner should Quigg
Really showed why he is as highly touted as he is after he got KD.
Sweet science - February 4, 2012
I’m seeing the Fampton fightas abit closer now though. Frampo hits pretty hard.
Matt Mosley - February 4, 2012
He also knows how to keep away from his man
has good skills on the outside.
Can he keep Quigg off of him? I doubt it if Quigg fights like he did from Round 5 onwards
Sweet science - February 4, 2012
For me, Frampton is about 60% of the fighter he could be, Quigg is about 90%. Quigg will take it if they meet in the next 12 months, it will be a lot closer in two or three years time when they’ve both matured and are fighting at 100% of their potential ability.
Dave Oakes - February 4, 2012
Yeah Frampton has fought about 10 less fights
Sweet science - February 4, 2012
Arthur didn’t argue, he didn’t even drop to one knee. It would only have been a matter of time.
Phill - February 4, 2012
Terrible argument from McCrory
DPlainview - February 4, 2012
Tell him Barry
DPlainview - February 4, 2012
Cunningham v Hernandez has just started on BoxNation and Scott is handling Round-by-round here. Thanks for joining me tonight and I’ll see you over in that thread.
Dave Oakes - February 4, 2012
Cheers man
Sweet science - February 4, 2012
I have your signal problems btw
Completley gone :)
Sweet science - February 4, 2012
It’s been pretty annoying to put it mildly.
Dave Oakes - February 4, 2012
thx Dave
DPlainview - February 4, 2012
Rendall Munroe on now, I’ll stay here for that even though I know the result.
Dave Oakes - February 4, 2012
well that lasted long
Sweet science - February 4, 2012
Round 1 – Munroe needs to start getting his career back on track. He’s got his opponent down in the first 20 seconds by a solid left hook . Munroe pinning his foe against the ropes and hammering home some hefty whacks. Great left hook to the body by Munroe and that’s it, Saez went down and was stopped as he got to his feet.
Dave Oakes - February 4, 2012
I wonder if they’re going to show Askin.
Dave Oakes - February 4, 2012
I bleeding hope so
Sweet science - February 4, 2012
Doubt it Dave, it’s nearly ten.
Phill - February 4, 2012
Does anyone want to know the result then, considering they’re not showing it?
Dave Oakes - February 4, 2012
What was the Askin result mate?
Sweet science - February 4, 2012
Askin won by second round stoppage.
Dave Oakes - February 4, 2012
sweet
Cheers Dave. Don’t get too disheartened next week
Sweet science - February 4, 2012
I won’t, I never get disheartened when Suarez hits a hat-trick.
