Today at 1 p.m. EST on BoxNation (fights likely to start around 2-2:30 p.m.), Steve Cunningham looks to regain the IBF cruiserweight title from Yoan Pablo Hernandez in Frankfurt, Germany, and two European titles are also on the line.
[ Related: Quigg vs Arthur Round-By-Round Coverage ]
Cunningham (24-3, 12 KO) and Hernandez (25-1, 13 KO) met last October in what turned out to be a controversial technical decision going Hernandez's way. Neither man has fought since then, and today they rematch in a fight that deserved a second go.
Also featured on the card will be European light heavyweight champion Eduard Gutknecht (22-1, 9 KO) defending against Vyacheslav Uzelkov (25-1, 16 KO), and the vacant European cruiserweight title is on the line between Enad Licina (21-3, 11 KO) and Alexander Alexeev (22-2, 20 KO).
Bad Left Hook will have live coverage of the entire lineup. Join us!

Cruiserweights, 12 Rounds (Vacant European Title)
Enad Licina (21-3, 11 KO) vs Alexander Alexeev (22-2, 20 KO)
Light Heavyweights, 12 Rounds (European Title)
Eduard Gutknecht (22-1, 9 KO) vs Vyacheslav Uzelkov (25-1, 16 KO)
Cruiserweights, 8 Rounds
Mateusz Masternak (24-0, 18 KO) vs Michael Simms (22-15-2, 14 KO)

As per usual, I’ll be lurking, and relying on the BLHers’ vivid descriptions, including the usual liberal use of analogy in both music and photos.
DrRck - February 4, 2012
excellent plan
BrianBrock - February 4, 2012
DrRck…………can’t tell u anything about the fights, but can tell you it’s cold as hell in Frankfurt.
DPlainview - February 4, 2012
Snowing in the south of England too
Sweet science - February 4, 2012
and in the north. :)
Matt Mosley - February 4, 2012
I hope they are lining Troy Ross up for a future crack at the main event winner.
Matt Mosley - February 4, 2012
I believe that is the plan. That’s why he signed with Sauerland, anyway.
Scott Christ - February 4, 2012
I find it quite interesting that two of Cunningham’s last three fights have involved cuts and controversial endings.
One he lost, the other he won.
As we know, like USS deserves his rematch here with Hernandez, so too does Ross with Cunningham.
I like Cunningham and would have liked for Haye to have fought him before going to heavyweight.
I’d also really like to see Cunningham vs Ross II. There’s unfinshed business there.
Then the winner can fight Huck or maybe Lebedev. If Huck comes back down to cruiser.
Matt Mosley - February 4, 2012
I doubt Huck will, too much money around for him at heavyweight.
Dafs - February 4, 2012
Plus Cunningham already beat him. I never saw that fight but it surprises me a little bit that Huck’s only KO loss is to Cunningham who is not considered a puncher, although he’s not exactly feather fisted.
Really though, i think the only world class cruisers Huck has fought are Cunningham and Lebedev (and Lebedev beat him too, in reality), so, considering his brawling style, maybe he’s only got one KO loss cos he keeps fighting 2nd and 3rd tier fighter’s. :)
Matt Mosley - February 4, 2012
Has anything started yet? Looking at the sheer length of this bill, it almost seems like Hernandez-Cunningham will be happening the same time Donaire starts to fight.
El Destruyo - February 4, 2012
boxnation starts at 7 30 English time
They usually have extensive coverage of the U/card
Sweet science - February 4, 2012

Thanks; I have family in the U.K., but I always fail to convert properly just the same:)
El Destruyo - February 4, 2012
Yeah BoxNation needs to fix their online schedule. They list everything as starting at 1pm EST.
Scott Christ - February 4, 2012
They need to fix their schedule Period. Stop giving me shit like Cleverley Karpency
Sweet science - February 4, 2012
The main event will likely be on around 5-6pm EST, i reckon.
Matt Mosley - February 4, 2012
putting me to shame with the EST time......
Sweet science - February 4, 2012
It’s just -5 hours from GMT.
Matt Mosley - February 4, 2012
I imagine you know this but are just lazy. :)
Matt Mosley - February 4, 2012
I always forget if it is 4 or 5
You watch the England V Scotland?
Sweet science - February 4, 2012
No, i been watching the league. THE REAL GAME!
Matt Mosley - February 4, 2012
Thought you might
I would engage you in asking who is doing what, but as no one south of Birmingham cares I won’t :)
Sweet science - February 4, 2012
Hey, the London Broncos do
and all 10 of their fans.
Did England win? I’m guessing either no or they won but the score was close?
Matt Mosley - February 4, 2012
Yeah we won
13-6
The Scots had several guilt edge scoring try chances but couldn’t finish and turned it over constantly in our 22
Englands try came from a chargedown. Not much else in the way of creativity. Worked V hard though
Sweet science - February 4, 2012
was a good game
Scotland literally threw it away, second half especially
BrianBrock - February 4, 2012
Yeah
Was a bit unlucky with the turned down try as well.
Sweet science - February 4, 2012
hmmm
missed that?! They’ll be absolutely gutted though the Scots, they were easily the better side secnd half – not sure how they managed to keep not converting chances.
BrianBrock - February 4, 2012
Kick was almost gathered
The scot got a finger on it but was not deemed to have put downward pressure on the ball
At least they were getting themselves into chances. England had pretty much nothing….
Sweet science - February 4, 2012
yeah
England were pretty fortunate, but it was always going to be difficult with the new played and being away. It’ll take time
BrianBrock - February 4, 2012
players*
BrianBrock - February 4, 2012
No doubt
And to be fair, winning at Murryfield is no easy task
Sweet science - February 4, 2012
indeed
even if they sort of half gave it to us, its a win..
BrianBrock - February 4, 2012
It’s still on now, Casteford vs Salford.
I;ve only been watching bits of it.
Matt Mosley - February 4, 2012
Good job it ain't football
Would have been called off last week with the pitch like that…..
Sweet science - February 4, 2012
Yeah, i thought they might have at least cleared some of the snow.
That pitch must be rock hard when getting tackled. I don’t know, maybe the snow will cushion the impact.
Interesting side note: I drive past Salford’s ground on the way to work over the swooping bridge past Manchester city centre.
Actually not very interesting at all.
Matt Mosley - February 4, 2012
lol ;)
BrianBrock - February 4, 2012
In a couple minutes it’ll go live.
Scott Christ - February 4, 2012
LIVE!
Scott Christ - February 4, 2012
If this full card is shown, I will be pulling 15 fights today between this and the full Chavez-Rubio card, incl. undercard.

BrianBrock - February 4, 2012
Quick picks
Hernandez by controversial decision (again)
Licina by KO
Uzelkov by KO
Brickhaus - February 4, 2012
Hell
I already changed my mind – I’ll say Alexeev by decision
Brickhaus - February 4, 2012
That one I can’t make up my mind, but I’m going Gutknecht by UD and Cunningham by decision.
Scott Christ - February 4, 2012
Are Hernandez and Cunningham both with Sauerland?
Matt Mosley - February 4, 2012
Yes
Scott Christ - February 4, 2012
I think they all are other than Uzelkov
Brickhaus - February 4, 2012
I remember him on ESPN…………very disappointing.
DPlainview - February 4, 2012
Indeed.
Scott Christ - February 4, 2012
First fight being shown before they go live.
Scott Christ - February 4, 2012
Shit, just turned it on, and thought I was seeing it live

Dave Oakes - February 4, 2012

I’ve just realised Micky Vann is refereeing here on this replay. I thought he had retired.
That must be just in the UK where he’s too old to get a license?
Matt Mosley - February 4, 2012
Yep. There’s no age limit in a lot of countries.
Dave Oakes - February 4, 2012
I was gunna say
I thought I had seen him about in fights. You mentioned (Or Phil did) that he had retired a few years back…..

Scott Christ - February 4, 2012
Bunce
is great when he keeps it lighthearted. I think he has a great dry sense of humour and he does know the sport and has followed it for years. He was an amateur at one stage it think too.
The only times he annoys me are when he gets the facts wrong or refuses to give due credit to foreign fighters when they are against Brits.
Matt Mosley - February 4, 2012
Yeah he certainly knows his boxing
But he…. blurs the truth somewhat
Sweet science - February 4, 2012

DPlainview - February 4, 2012
This “music” is entrancing.
DrRck - February 4, 2012
Live music entrances... I kinda dig this
IRodC - February 4, 2012
I’d like to walk around to Eduard Gutknecht’s entrance music, like, all the time.
Scott Christ - February 4, 2012
I think the American Anthem should be played on string quartets.
DrRck - February 4, 2012
I think the American anthem should be changed to a better song.
Scott Christ - February 4, 2012
Hulk Hogan's theme?
IRodC - February 4, 2012
“America the Beautiful” would be my first choice. “Real American” second.
Scott Christ - February 4, 2012
America, Fuck yeah………….see Team America.
DPlainview - February 4, 2012
ugh fuck that shit
Scott Christ - February 4, 2012
America the Beautiful all the way. No war imagery, no tune cribbed from a stupid British drinking song, lots of nice imagery of the land itself, and a perfect version to play when a singer is not available. (Ray Charles’, of course.)
El Destruyo - February 4, 2012
100% agreed
Scott Christ - February 4, 2012
Absolutely. Also easy for a crowd to sing.
tkeithwhite - February 4, 2012
There’s that, too.
DrRck - February 4, 2012
i prefer tyrese
nickfoxx - February 4, 2012
This is great. Calms everyone down, gets the fighters in the mood.
DrRck - February 4, 2012
Shit why do I know the name Daniel van de Wiele
Knowing a judge’s name is never a good thing
Waldo Rastel - February 4, 2012
Yeah, it’s annoying me too. The dude works way too much for me to investigate this on Boxrec.
El Destruyo - February 4, 2012
Steel Power. Amazing.
Nick_ - February 4, 2012
about to begin
Scott Christ - February 4, 2012
No Goodnight" Gutknecht?
DrRck - February 4, 2012
Why don’t they show the ringcard girl?
DrRck - February 4, 2012
Gutknecht vs Uzelkov Round 1
Uzelkov already looking better than he did against Shumenov. Gutknecht throwing a nice jab, following it with a right. They get close and don’t make a whole lot of it. Tentative round, but not really slow. Both feeling it out. Uzelkov swings a wild right and misses.
Gutknecht 10-9
Scott Christ - February 4, 2012
just out of curiosity who was favored in this particular contest?
nickfoxx - February 4, 2012
didn't see a line
Scott Christ - February 4, 2012
Boxing News picked Gutknecht by decision.
They usually go for the favourite.
Matt Mosley - February 4, 2012
However they did actually say “in his home country, he should get the decision”, so they possibly see it as being close.
Matt Mosley - February 4, 2012
Gutknecht vs Uzelkov Round 2
Gutknecht just busier and more effective early here. Uzelkov not as passive as he was against Shumenov, but he’s going to have to step up the pace. Gutknecht putting punches together, landing with both hands. Uzelkov far too focused on landing one big shot. Two rights to the body by Gutknecht. Three-punch combo from Gutknecht, then he does it two more times. Not all of these are landing clean, of course, but he’s just outworking Uzelkov badly.
Gutknecht 10-9
Gutknecht 20-18
Scott Christ - February 4, 2012
Gutknecht vs Uzelkov Round 3
Left and right from Uzelkov. He’s trying to lead the action more early in the third. Gutknecht back with a combo. Body shot from Uzelkov. Dipping lower on defense now. I wish they’d stop showing me Ulli Wegner. I couldn’t give a shit about seeing over his shoulder.
Uzelkov throwing more, not landing a ton yet. Final minute of this round will decide it. Nice jab from Gutknecht. He outworks the last minute and Uzelkov takes half a swipe after the bell.
Gutknecht 10-9
Gutknecht 30-27
Scott Christ - February 4, 2012
Uzelkov is too reactive, but he’s pretty good when he does something.
Gutknecht’s round, I think.
DrRck - February 4, 2012
I see that Uzelkov has lost by UD to Beibut Shumenov but has also stopped Gabriel Campillo in 6, so he’s got some decent credentials coming in.
Matt Mosley - February 4, 2012
Uzelkov was miserably bad against Shumenov. Horrible performance.
Scott Christ - February 4, 2012
It was also an outdoor fight in 110 degree weather
Which can have an effect. But yeah, I’m not sure he threw more than 10 punches in any round that fight.
Brickhaus - February 4, 2012
Horrible fight, horrible concept. You might as well put two fighters in a car heated by the summer sun; at least they’d be close enough to each other than they’d have to punch.
El Destruyo - February 4, 2012
This is interesting, but not really competitive in the sense that there’s any drama.
DrRck - February 4, 2012
Gutknecht vs Uzelkov Round 4
Gutknecht just looks like the superior boxer here. Uzelkov seems almost confused about what to do here — he’s got no rhythm at all. I want to mention that I really like the look of those blue-and-yellow Adidas gloves.
Gutknecht making Uzelkov miss consistently. Uzelkov just too slow with the lead right.
Gutknecht 10-9
Gutknecht 40-36
Scott Christ - February 4, 2012
Commentator says Uzelkov “continually blinking”.
That’s never a good sign. It makes me think of Gerald McClennan.
Matt Mosley - February 4, 2012
Gutknecht seems to have slowed down a little, so Uzelkov looks better.
DrRck - February 4, 2012
Gutknecht’s aggression seems to have evaporated, at least for now.
DrRck - February 4, 2012
I’m skipping channels with this and sky so have only just noticed that the dreadful Terry O’Connor is refereeing.
I find it hard to forget how bad he was in “judging” Fury – Mcdermott.
Matt Mosley - February 4, 2012
He hasn’t been a factor so far.
DrRck - February 4, 2012
Gutknecht vs Uzelkov Round 5
Good body shot from Gutknecht, but he’s taking the round a bit slower. Now he’s backing Uzelkov down again. Jab to the body from Uzelkov. Chopping right from Gutknecht is mostly blocked, then a three-punch combo mostly blocked. But he’s throwing more still. Uzelkov just not landing enough.
Gutknecht 10-9
Gutknecht 50-45
Scott Christ - February 4, 2012
“The worst thing you can do with a swinger or a hooker.” Now you tell me.
DrRck - February 4, 2012
I don’t think Uzelkov’s doing so badly now. This is getting a little interesting.
DrRck - February 4, 2012
Gutknecht vs Uzelkov Round 6
right hand from Uzelkov gets in. Then one back from Gutknecht. Uzelkov a bit bouncier the last two rounds. Gutkencht meeting Uzelkov’s aggression, but he’s not the one keeping the pace anymore. Right hand Uzelkov, then a bit back from Gutknecht. Answering pretty well when Uzelkov does land a decent shot. Uzelkov starting to feel it a bit more, throwing more combinations. Right hand over the top, doesn’t land hard but does land for Uzelkov. Right hand again from Uzelkov, then a left to the body. Uzelkov takes a round, may have taken the last two.
Uzelkov 10-9
Gutknecht 59-55
Scott Christ - February 4, 2012
I gave this round to Uzelkov.
DrRck - February 4, 2012
“You know what they say about German boxing, but it’s not always the case.”
What do “they” say?
DrRck - February 4, 2012
biased hometown decisions
Scott Christ - February 4, 2012
I thoought it was something about sticks up the rearend.
DrRck - February 4, 2012
Close round, could g either way.
DrRck - February 4, 2012
Gutknecht vs Uzelkov Round 7
Man, Gutknecht is disappearing here. Uzelkov not doing a ton in the first two minutes, but doing way more than Gutknecht. Gutknecht with a quick flurry, lands a right, but then Uzelkov comes back with one of his own. Gutknecht’s eyes are swelling a bit. Right from Gutknecht a bit short, one from Uzelkov gets in. Gutknecht pushes him back, doesn’t land much. Uzelkov stalking and lands a right at the end.
Uzelkov 10-9
Gutknecht 68-65
Scott Christ - February 4, 2012
I agree that Gutknecht is allowing that “plodding relentlessness.” I gtake back what I said about this being non-competitive.
DrRck - February 4, 2012
Two Master’s degrees? I love him.
DrRck - February 4, 2012
Plodding relentlessness is how you get Master’s degrees.
DrRck - February 4, 2012
Uzikov’s round.
DrRck - February 4, 2012
Gutknecht vs Uzelkov Round 8
Fight has gotten much closer. Even first half of the round, but Uzelkov’s power is becoming a really telling factor. Good, stiff jab from Uzelkov. Four more come after it. Uppercut from Gutknecht. Crowd cheering Gutknecht on, but he’s — whoa, clear rabbit punch from Gutknecht, and Terry O’Connor just stares at it, confused.
Uzelkov 10-9
Gutknecht 77-75
Scott Christ - February 4, 2012
Terry O conner all over
Sweet science - February 4, 2012
The rabbit punch sequence was weird.
tkeithwhite - February 4, 2012
This looks really bad for Gudknecht now.
DrRck - February 4, 2012
A little more from Gutknecht. Gutknecht’s round.
DrRck - February 4, 2012
Gutknecht vs Uzelkov Round 9
Bizarre sequence where Gutknecht just chases Uzelkov around the ring, then blows his nose. Gutknecht has gotten weird in this fight. Uzelkov is turning skittish, too. This round ain’t pretty.
Uzelkov winds up stumbling to the mat, looks like he caught an elbow there. Up and they walk right into each other. This is one shit ugly round. Gutknecht is the one trying to push the pace this round, though. It’s not attractive, but I think he’s bringing himself back by any means necessary.
Gutknecht 10-9
Gutknecht 87-84
Scott Christ - February 4, 2012
I loove chase scenes in boxing. Reminds me of Morrison.
DrRck - February 4, 2012
“Pedagogy. The correct use of instructive strategies.” These guys are running out of things to say.
DrRck - February 4, 2012
Good body shots.
tkeithwhite - February 4, 2012
Giutknecht just woke up. Coming forward again after rounds of backing up.
DrRck - February 4, 2012
Gutknecht vs Uzelkov Round 10
Gutknecht pushing the pace again, and landing some solid shots with Uzelkov on the ropes. Uzelkov is tiring a bit and Gutknecht is coming up with a second wind at the right time. Right uppercut from Gutknecht. 1-2, 1-2. Left to the body from Uzelkov. Gutknecht back in full control of this fight. Shots to the body shots upstairs. Two hard body shots, and Uzelkov clearly felt those. Uzelkov down to arm punches at this point. Right to the body again from Gutknecht again. Another one. He’s pouring it on. This is a great round from Gutknecht. Uppercut gets in again. Another right hand.
Gutknecht 10-9
Gutknecht 97-93
Scott Christ - February 4, 2012
As long as Gutknecht stays outside, Uzelkov is going to catch him. That short right frm Gutknecht is good.
DrRck - February 4, 2012
Gutknecht vs Uzelkov Round 11
Gutknecht really in control of this fight again. Uzelkov is trying to get himself in this, but Gutknecht is just landing the better shots and starting to muscle him, too. Uzelkov coming forward a bit more now, throwing jabs. Gutknecht with a right that busts the guard. Another right hand lands.
Gutknecht 10-9
Gutknecht 107-102
Scott Christ - February 4, 2012
How come American commentators never say “penultimate?”
DrRck - February 4, 2012
Too busy complaining or shouting.
Scott Christ - February 4, 2012
The anti-penultimate round is always my favorite.
Waldo Rastel - February 4, 2012
Lol.
DrRck - February 4, 2012
Ante-penultimate?
DrRck - February 4, 2012
How come I don’t shut up?
DrRck - February 4, 2012
Gutknecht vs Uzelkov Round 12
body shot from Uzelkov. Uzelkov plowing forward trying to land. Hey, just so you know, I typed “plowing forward” right before the dude on TV said it. RIGHT BEFORE! Great minds.
Also, no other way to describe what he’s doing. Again not a pretty round, but Uzelkov is doing all he can to pull this thing out. Gutknecht mostly content to give the round away, it appears. He’s throwing when it’s safe but not going out of his way. Then there’s Gutknecht with the bigger shots as Uzelkov is just dog tired.
Uzelkov 10-9
Gutknecht 116-112
Scott Christ - February 4, 2012
That was interesting.
DrRck - February 4, 2012
Will Hernandez-Cunningham be next, just out of curiosity? Otherwise, I’ll watch Quigg…
alargar - February 4, 2012
No. Still have at least Licina vs Alexeev left.

Scott Christ - February 4, 2012
Boy you can really tell Nathan Cleverly is a budding superstar. He is a sincere and charismatic individual.

Scott Christ - February 4, 2012
How many more fights until the Cunningham fight?
Verklemptomaniac - February 4, 2012
At least Licina vs Alexeev, don’t know if Masternak fought earlier. Troy Ross did, I believe.
Scott Christ - February 4, 2012
nope, Cunningham on his way in
Scott Christ - February 4, 2012
I agree about the blood. It drives me nuts when fights are decided on cuts.
DrRck - February 4, 2012
Just a reminder, since I keep forgetting myself: This is for the vacant Ring Magazine cruiserweight championship. Cunningham’s second shot at that title. Lost to Adamek first time, belt was vacant then too.
Scott Christ - February 4, 2012
Well, there it is. The American anthem courtesy of some string quartet.
DrRck - February 4, 2012
This is pretty damn classy, I have to say.
Verklemptomaniac - February 4, 2012
I love this. No explosions, fake smoke, etc.
DrRck - February 4, 2012
AWESOME. I’m rooting so hard for USS here.
sarangrat - February 4, 2012
I thought he took every round after the first of the first fight.
DrRck - February 4, 2012
I’m a big U.S.S. fan too.
schraubd - February 4, 2012
Oh, boy.
DrRck - February 4, 2012
Were on
Matt Mosley - February 4, 2012
I mean, we're on - LIVE
Early start it seems.
Matt Mosley - February 4, 2012
American vs Cuban falls behind Alexeev for arena importance, I think.
Scott Christ - February 4, 2012
Hernandez 10-9
schraubd - February 4, 2012
“Thomas Adam-ack.”
DrRck - February 4, 2012
Hernandez vs Cunningham Round 1
Both tentative for two minutes. Nothing between them at all thus far. Cunningham with a few jabs. Jab to the body. 30 seconds left, winnable round. Hernandez not finding the range. Right to the body by Hernandez. Three body shots from Hernandez to close the round. I think he landed the better shots and really stole the round.
Hernandez 10-9
Scott Christ - February 4, 2012
10-9 USS
Cunningham has a nice jab. Up until the end of the round, Hernandez seemed about 6 inches short on all his punches.
Verklemptomaniac - February 4, 2012
Hernandez looks quicker, getting some good bodyshots in.
DrRck - February 4, 2012
Left to the body by Hernandez.
DrRck - February 4, 2012
Hernandez vs Cunningham Round 2
Hernandez lands an uppercut in the middle of a combo, and then another body shot and another left gets in. Cunningham seems a hair slow to react defensively. Remember, he’s 35 years old. He’s not young anymore.
Cunningham just isn’t establishing anything on offense. Hernandez with a little bull rush. Cunningham with a left to the body, not a big shot. Uppercut from Hernandez, digs to the body with it. Good right to the body from Cunningham. Hernandez back to the body. Interesting clash so far.
Hernandez 10-9
Hernandez 20-18
Scott Christ - February 4, 2012
Hernandez 10-9, 20-18 same
schraubd - February 4, 2012
god damn hernandez looks sharp as hell
sarangrat - February 4, 2012
Cunningham has got to have one of the best physiques in boxing.
\not an ounce of fat on him.
Matt Mosley - February 4, 2012
He’s absolutely ripped. Always. One of those guys who never gets remotely out of shape.
Scott Christ - February 4, 2012
Cunningham looks tentative, Hernandez pulls the trigger quicker.
DrRck - February 4, 2012
I’m kinda more impressed by Hernandez thus far than in the last Cunningham fight. Wicked body shots.
El Destruyo - February 4, 2012
Me, too.
DrRck - February 4, 2012
10-9 YPH, 19-19
Cunningham isn’t going to win this fight throwing two right hands per round. YPH is landing some decent body shots, and that’re coming back are (admittedly good) jabs.
Verklemptomaniac - February 4, 2012
Hernandez 20-18.
DrRck - February 4, 2012
Cunningham’s straight right hand is there for him – just got to bide his time as Hernandez starts to slow…
Oli Goldstein - February 4, 2012
of course it’s going to be a factor
BoxAnne - February 4, 2012
Both looking sharp here.
hernandez has lande some good body shots.
Matt Mosley - February 4, 2012
landed
Matt Mosley - February 4, 2012
Hernandez looks in control early. The early pattern doesn’t favor Cunningham, I think.
DrRck - February 4, 2012
Hernandez vs Cunningham Round 3
REALLY good body shot from Hernandez. That thing tore into Cunningham. Hernandez looks really sharp tonight. Both throwing shots, Hernandez just the guy landing first and better, even when he throws second. Hernandez backing him down just a bit. Cunningham just hasn’t found the pace yet, but he’s getting a bit more up. Left hand from Hernandez. Stamina could be an issue for Hernandez later if he keeps this up.
Very, very interesting fight so far, I believe.
Body shot from Cunningham. Body shot from Hernandez, a straight left. Another body shot, two of them get in from YPH. Cunningham has got to start uncorking his right hand.
Hernandez 10-9
Hernandez 30-27
Scott Christ - February 4, 2012
10-9 Hernandez, 30-27.
schraubd - February 4, 2012
I love both guys exchanging punches to the body
But Hernandez is getting the better of them
IRodC - February 4, 2012
Same.
DrRck - February 4, 2012
10-9 YPH, 29-28
YPH landing some beautiful counter hooks to the body when USS overextends on straight punches.
Verklemptomaniac - February 4, 2012
Cunningham round to me. Hernandez got a bit wild, while Cunningham was more within himself. Closest round of the fight, though.
El Destruyo - February 4, 2012
Hernandez is putting in good work to the body. Should pay dividends in the second half of the fight.
glatin1982 - February 4, 2012
Nazim is the best cornerman in boxing, I think.
Nick_ - February 4, 2012
IMO he has the best hats
Scott Christ - February 4, 2012
I like to imagine he knits them himself.
Nick_ - February 4, 2012
Not as good as Joe Murray’s tonight. That was a look for the ladies!
Dave Oakes - February 4, 2012
Hernandez can’t keep up this pace – it’s not in his nature. I think that guard is already just starting to drop slightly.
Oli Goldstein - February 4, 2012
holy crap
DPlainview - February 4, 2012
Sheeeeeeeeeeeeeeit.
Oli Goldstein - February 4, 2012
Damn
IRodC - February 4, 2012
Bam! Down goes Cunningham. Twice.
DrRck - February 4, 2012
he’s not going to make it out of this rd
DPlainview - February 4, 2012
wow, he got out
AP77 - February 4, 2012
Hernandez vs Cunningham Round 4
Hernandez backs him down again with a left hand. He’s clearly here for a knockout. He’s putting a lot into those shots. Cunningham gets close and lands, but Hernandez throws back. Cunningham having a better round, but still not quite there an DOWN GOES STEVE CUNNINGHAM ON A BIG LEFT HAND! CUNNINGHAM MIGHT NOT MAKE IT! His legs are terrible, but he’s up!
Referee gives it a look,a nd here we go. Hernandez drops him again immediately! Hernandez is not going to let him finish this round. 40 seconds to go.
Here we go! Cunningham in major trouble and trying to hang on. Cunningham is a mess. 20 seconds! Hernandez unloading! Big shots! Body and head shots! Hernaandez tearing into him! cunningham staggers and Eddie Cotton nearly steps in!
Cunningham SURVIVES THE ROUND!
Hernandez 10-7
Hernandez 40-34
Scott Christ - February 4, 2012
wow…………can’t believe he survived…………great heart
DPlainview - February 4, 2012
Jeez. Cunningham is getting battered. Barely makes it out of the round.
DrRck - February 4, 2012
wow barely made it out…
Sammlung - February 4, 2012
Cunningham in a world of trouble there.
Dave Oakes - February 4, 2012
Damn. Cunningham was so dazed, he became a southpaw there for a second.
El Destruyo - February 4, 2012
10-7 Hernandez, 40-35 same. And USS was winning that round until that moment too. That stings.
schraubd - February 4, 2012
40-34
schraubd - February 4, 2012
Cunningham has an enormous heart. He took some monumental shots in that round.
Oli Goldstein - February 4, 2012
10-7 YPH, 39-34
How the hell did Cunningham make it out of that round?
Verklemptomaniac - February 4, 2012
er, 39-35
Verklemptomaniac - February 4, 2012
How can Cunningham survive this
Come on USS!
Hernandez punches hard!
Matt Mosley - February 4, 2012
That was a
wait for it
BAD LEFT HOOK
IRodC - February 4, 2012
miracle escape from that round
BoxAnne - February 4, 2012
Hernandez did really good job not allowing himself to be tied up.
glatin1982 - February 4, 2012
How the hell did Cunningham escape that round?
DanielAM - February 4, 2012
Big right by Hernandez.
DrRck - February 4, 2012
Cunningham looks recovered?
AP77 - February 4, 2012
Right to the body by Cunningham.
DrRck - February 4, 2012
go USS!!
DPlainview - February 4, 2012
This isn’t lasting long.
Dave Oakes - February 4, 2012
Oh, hello, good shot from Cunningham
Dave Oakes - February 4, 2012
Now this is a fight. Cunningham looks like he’s back, and he’s doing OK. Until that.
DrRck - February 4, 2012
Cunningham recovered
Hernandez should get back to his gameplan of attacking the body
IRodC - February 4, 2012
The scoring for this round should be interesting.
glatin1982 - February 4, 2012
Amazing. Cunningham is back. But he’s cut on his lip.
DrRck - February 4, 2012
Hernandez vs Cunningham Round 5
Cunningham really needs something special, but I thought before the first fight that Hernandez wasn’t a good matchup for him, and that Cunningham aging was getting dangerous. Looks like this might be the night.
Good jab from Hernandez. Right hook, left hand from Hernandez. Cunningham STAGGERS HERNANDEZ ON A COUNTER RIGHT! But it settles down. Cunningham cut over right eye, they’re saying.
Hernandez has calmed down a lot since getting stung. Right hook from Hernandez! Body shot from Cunningham. Cunningham with another right. Cunningham back in the fight but still needs to pick it up.
Cunningham 10-9
Hernandez 49-44
Scott Christ - February 4, 2012
10-9 USS, 48-45 YPH
Not sure why Hernandez decided to hang back that round, but USS landed a few good shots, including one that either staggered YPH or at least knocked him off balance.
Verklemptomaniac - February 4, 2012
Cunningham 10-9, 49-44 Hernandez. Had Hernandez buzzed, wished he jumped on him (but understand why he didn’t).
It’s weird — it’s like Cunningham doesn’t get into a fight until he’s been knocked silly. It’s not just a flash knockdown — he has to get knocked down hard.
schraubd - February 4, 2012
Cunningham’s balance may be recovered, but his mouth and nose are tenderized.
El Destruyo - February 4, 2012
Good. good fight
and a lot of heart from Cunningham.
Matt Mosley - February 4, 2012
+1.
DrRck - February 4, 2012
Yeah, very good fight.
Dave Oakes - February 4, 2012
Hernandez has to be thinking about what he can do next.
DrRck - February 4, 2012
those rd hands to the body by USS are nice
DPlainview - February 4, 2012
USS starting to feel it now. Like the KD’s shook the gears loose.
glatin1982 - February 4, 2012
Similar to the first fight
UASS gets hurt early, then comes back.
Matt Mosley - February 4, 2012
USS
Matt Mosley - February 4, 2012
UASS…………even better
DPlainview - February 4, 2012
Hernandez vs Cunningham Round 6
Cunningham starting to find some rhythm, getting his style, starting to get close and then back out. They definitely want to test Hernandez’s stamina. Right hand from Cunningham. Cunningham with some reckless shots with both hands, leaving himself wide open and nearly gets flattened by a right hook, but it’s just short.
Left to the body from Hernandez. Cunningham with his jab, then a little right hand. Jabbing jabbing. Cunningham with a combo in close. Right hook from Hernandez. Cunningham is in constant danger of getting cracked. His defense has really loosened up the last couple years.
Cunningham 10-9
Hernandez 58-54
Scott Christ - February 4, 2012
Cunningham is looking old to me.
Dave Oakes - February 4, 2012
He does, a little.
DrRck - February 4, 2012
I agree, especially in the face, although that may be the beard.
He is 34 now though. This could be his last chance.
Matt Mosley - February 4, 2012
Cunningham’s round.
DrRck - February 4, 2012
10-9 USS, 58-54 Hernandez
schraubd - February 4, 2012
10-9 USS
AP77 - February 4, 2012
10-9 USS, 57-55 YPH
Verklemptomaniac - February 4, 2012
Hernanadez always looks dangerous to me though
Like he’s just waiting for his chance.
Matt Mosley - February 4, 2012
Cunningham could get knocked out next round and I’d still be amazed at what he’s done in these two rounds after the condition he was in.
El Destruyo - February 4, 2012
Cunningham seems to have tightened up defensively
and getting a lot more punches in
IRodC - February 4, 2012
Hernandez is really taking it to Cunningham. Good mix of murderous body shots and lefts.
DrRck - February 4, 2012
Cunningham’s round.
DrRck - February 4, 2012
Hernandez vs Cunningham Round 7
Cunningham with a body shot. This is becoming a very interesting fight. 1-2 from Hernandez. Getting more rugged now. Three shots to the body from Cunningham. “USA” chant is drowned out by boos pretty quickly.
Left to the body from Hernandez. Right body from Cunningham. Cunningham taking over the pacing a little bit. Back to the body from Hernandez. Hernandez eats a stiff right hand down the pipe. Really good round. Just a tough, rough round. Tight to score, too.
Cunningham 10-9
Hernandez 67-64
Scott Christ - February 4, 2012
Think they’re chanting “USS”?
AP77 - February 4, 2012
OK, either way.
Scott Christ - February 4, 2012
Nice right counter
AP77 - February 4, 2012
10-9 USS, 57-54 Hernandez
schraubd - February 4, 2012
saw the 5th and the s6th
This round was Cunninghams
Mohammedini Hussein - February 4, 2012
10-9 USS, 66-65 YPH
Big right hand near the end of the round from USS clinched an otherwise close round.
Verklemptomaniac - February 4, 2012
Three rounds in a row for Cunningham.
I’m really surprised by what I’m seeing here. Hernandez seems a little mentally weak to me right now, but that still won’t much matter if he opens Cunningham’s eye up a bit more.
El Destruyo - February 4, 2012
This is a really tactical fight
yet very entertaing at the same time.
I can see why Cunningham especially has to be careful. he doesn’t want to get countered and hurt again.
USS ;landed a nice right hand near the end.
Matt Mosley - February 4, 2012
10-9 YPH, 76-74
ANother close round, but I thought YPH landed the more meaningful shots. USS landed mostly jabs.
Verklemptomaniac - February 4, 2012
Nice body work from USS
Matt Mosley - February 4, 2012
With all these close rounds does anyone think USS can win on the cards?
glatin1982 - February 4, 2012
Site had some issues for me (don’t know about the rest of you) but I had the last two to Cunningham as well, so I’ve got it 85-84 Hernandez after nine.
Scott Christ - February 4, 2012
Me. too.
DrRck - February 4, 2012
Cunningham vs Hernandez Round 10
Couldn’t get a full description in here, but I scored the round. Hernandez had a much better round here, and it’s the first I give to him in a while.
Hernandez 10-9
Hernandez 95-93
Scott Christ - February 4, 2012
I can’t post, for some reason.
DrRck - February 4, 2012
Server issues. We had a big problem the other night and it could be the same thing again. Not much I can do.
Scott Christ - February 4, 2012
I noticed that last time also. Now, I seem to be able to reply, but not post originals.
DrRck - February 4, 2012
It’s working now but it wasn’t working for a couple rounds.
DanielAM - February 4, 2012
I was struggling as well.
Dave Oakes - February 4, 2012
cunningham needs these 2 last rounds
Drama…….
Mohammedini Hussein - February 4, 2012
Cunningham vs Hernandez Round 11
Hernandez comes out fast. He’s finding a second wind when he needs it. Cunningham with a great series of jabs, head and body, and then a shot right in the mush. Boy these two are giving about all they’ve got in them. Cunningham having a nice second half of the round here after Hernandez did well in the early stages. Hernandez clips him with a right hook.
Cunningham 10-9
Hernandez 104-103
Scott Christ - February 4, 2012
I think he needs a KO, to be honest.
DanielAM - February 4, 2012
I have Hernandez sweeping every round after the 4th. Which makes it 104-103 Cunningham.
schraubd - February 4, 2012
same
came late for the first 4 rounds. I go by Scotts scoring by the 4 first.
I have cunnigham winning all rounds after the 4th
Mohammedini Hussein - February 4, 2012
94-94 for by going by your scores from the 4th
I gave the 10th to Cunningham
Mohammedini Hussein - February 4, 2012
104-103 Cunningham 10-9 cunningham
Mohammedini Hussein - February 4, 2012
here. we. go
jake_ash - February 4, 2012
Should be a hell of a round.
DanielAM - February 4, 2012
They’re sure taking it easy for a last round.
DrRck - February 4, 2012
Speaking of which …
DrRck - February 4, 2012
Holy shiiit!
Mohammedini Hussein - February 4, 2012
Great last round, great fight. Very close.
Dave Oakes - February 4, 2012
10-10 final round, 114-113 Cunningham. Beauty of a fight.
schraubd - February 4, 2012
I'm unsure
Mohammedini Hussein - February 4, 2012
10-9 YPH, 86-83, then 10-9 USS, 95-93 YPH, then 10-9 YPH, 105-102, then 10-9 YPH, 115-111
9th: Yet another relatively close round. Again, USS not landing much beyond jabs.
10th: Close, but clearer for USS than the 9th was for YPH
11th: Close again, think YPH’s aggressivenes will give him the round.
12th: YPH round.
Verklemptomaniac - February 4, 2012
Cunningham vs Hernandez Round 12
BIG LEFT HAND FROM HERNANDEZ AND CUNNINGHAM IS IN BIG TROUBLE! HERNANDEZ FIRING AWAY! A MINUTE TO GO! Cunningham fighting back and getting his legs back under him!
Wow!
Cunningham swinging for the fences, too! CUNNINGHAM PRESSING BACK NOW! My god this has been a hell of a fight. Hernandez’s legs are jelly now! Right hand from Cunningham!
NOW HERNANDEZ THROWING AGAIN! Cunningham covers up and blocks. Wow, what a fight this was. Both guys deserve props for this one.
Hernandez 10-9
Hernandez 114-112
Scott Christ - February 4, 2012
A terrific fight. A real championship fight here.
Scott Christ - February 4, 2012
Terrific fight. I think Hernandez edged it.
DrRck - February 4, 2012
Nobody lost. Not the fighters, not the trainers, and definitely not the fans.
glatin1982 - February 4, 2012
I think Hernandez will get a close decision. Really enjoyed this fight.
DanielAM - February 4, 2012
I don’t see how USS gets the decision. I only had a couple of close rounds for YPH, with most going to USS.
Verklemptomaniac - February 4, 2012
I have Cunningham by the slightest of margins, but I couldn’t argue with a draw either.
Duan - February 4, 2012
I have Hernandez, barely.
DrRck - February 4, 2012
Great fight
Matt Mosley - February 4, 2012
a close close fight
Mohammedini Hussein - February 4, 2012
Have Cunningham by a point, just hope that the cards are reasonable. Cunningham outcrafted the young’un in any case, and just refused to stay down or out.
El Destruyo - February 4, 2012
Nonsense scores
Duan - February 4, 2012
Fuck German boxing. That’s all I can say right now.
El Destruyo - February 4, 2012
i’ve got a draw.
BoxAnne - February 4, 2012
Hernandez vs Cunningham - JUDGES SCORES
116-110
116-110
115-111
Yoan Pablo Hernandez by unanimous decision
New Ring Magazine champion, still IBF titleholder
Scott Christ - February 4, 2012
I can’t see where these scores came from. They’re all way too wide.
DrRck - February 4, 2012
Hernandez lives in Germany
That explains the score cards
Mohammedini Hussein - February 4, 2012
116-110? Come on.
AP77 - February 4, 2012
Those cards are suspect.
glatin1982 - February 4, 2012
very much so. Totally so.
BoxAnne - February 4, 2012
A little wide for me those scores.
Dave Oakes - February 4, 2012
too wide.
Sammlung - February 4, 2012
aaaahh I get it....
Hernandez is a German citizen.. makes sense
Mohammedini Hussein - February 4, 2012
yup
BoxAnne - February 4, 2012
116-110 is a bit wide, but 115-111 was reasonable (since I scored it that way.)
Verklemptomaniac - February 4, 2012
I didn’t think the scores were that off
DPlainview - February 4, 2012
I didn’t either, honestly. I’m just not feeling any outrage here.
Scott Christ - February 4, 2012
No outrage here either, I thought the cards were a touch wide but not outrageous by any means.
Dave Oakes - February 4, 2012
Disgust, not outrage.
El Destruyo - February 4, 2012
I don’t feel that either. This wasn’t Helenius-Chisora.
Scott Christ - February 4, 2012
Oh, I wasn’t trying to hand you your emotions here, just stating mine. I just don’t go for “the better man won” arguments all the time, because scoring of this sort is what leads to the better man not winning.
El Destruyo - February 4, 2012
Garbage scores.
tkeithwhite - February 4, 2012
Hernandez is a German citizen
Mohammedini Hussein - February 4, 2012
a lot of close rds and the KD rd could easily have been 10-6
DPlainview - February 4, 2012
A lot of close rounds, non of which went to Cunningham with any of the three judges.
tkeithwhite - February 4, 2012
Either way, the right man won
DPlainview - February 4, 2012
2 KD's= 10-7
Mohammedini Hussein - February 4, 2012
but it was VERY close to being over……..you don’t necessarily need 3KD’s for a 10-6
DPlainview - February 4, 2012
it can be subjective…………sometimes 1 KD doesn’t mean 10-8………I’ve seen 10-9 rds
DPlainview - February 4, 2012
Ludicrous scores
German boxing is by far still the most disgusting in the world.
Matt Mosley - February 4, 2012
Italy is far worse. Everything in Italy is corrupt.
Dave Oakes - February 4, 2012
Ok, so it’s 1/ Italy 2/ Germany.
Thay are both the most corrupt, shitty bastards in Western European boxing.
I feel bad for cunningham, not that he lost so much, but that the records won’t show how greatly he performed
Matt Mosley - February 4, 2012
but fine women
DPlainview - February 4, 2012
So while we watched the last round like it meant something….it didn’t. At all. Thank God the scoring wasn’t open, because I’d be too annoyed to keep watching. And no, I’m not gonna defend that. One card of that sort would be fine. Three is bullshit.
El Destruyo - February 4, 2012
I had 115-112 Hernandez. 6-5 with an even round. 8-4 for Hernandez is a bit wide, but he certainly deserved to win.
alargar - February 4, 2012
I knew Cunningham needed a KO those last 2 rounds, this is why.
DanielAM - February 4, 2012
I had it 6-5 Cunningham with the tenth round even. No way was it 8-4 Hernandez.
theninthlayer - February 4, 2012
I had it 7-4-1 Hernandez. Hernandez sweeps rounds 1-4 (10-7 in the 4th), but Cunningham sweeps 5-11, with 12 even.
schraubd - February 4, 2012
thats 8-7 to Cunningham
Mohammedini Hussein - February 4, 2012
The scorecards really aren't that bad.
Maybe a round wide, but there isn’t that great a disparity between what actually came up and how a lot of people scored it here.
Oli Goldstein - February 4, 2012
Cunningham
shows balls of steel to pull through that early knock down.
Matt Mosley - February 4, 2012
showed
Matt Mosley - February 4, 2012
He’s one tough bastard. I’m not sure how much he’s get left in the tank.
Dave Oakes - February 4, 2012
I think he should retire now.
Matt Mosley - February 4, 2012
Yeah, I agree. If he is to continue, I hope he has a good break to recover from this fight.
Dave Oakes - February 4, 2012
Saying that
i mean, he is the only one to stop marco huck, but he is looking older and he is 34/35 now.
I don’t want to see him start taking a beating.
Matt Mosley - February 4, 2012
No doubt, I thought he was gone in round 4.
DanielAM - February 4, 2012
Licina vs Alexeev up next
Scott Christ - February 4, 2012
Didn’t know there was another fight, I closed the stream. I’ll re-open…
DanielAM - February 4, 2012
Bunce keeps calling Rawling “Sir” John Rawling.
He’s got a good sense of humour has old Buncey.
Matt Mosley - February 4, 2012
yea, I like him………….speaks his mind, no PC BS.
DPlainview - February 4, 2012
This could be a good fight. I fancy Aleskeev to win late.
Dave Oakes - February 4, 2012
Fantastic, Terry O’Connor is a judge.
Scott Christ - February 4, 2012
It doesn’t get better than O’Connor and Van de Wiele together.
Scott Christ - February 4, 2012
I love Van de Wiele, absolutely love him. You really can’t beat him for incompetence.
Dave Oakes - February 4, 2012
If only Tilleman were here, we’d have a fucking dream team.
Scott Christ - February 4, 2012
Van de Wiele as ref, O’Connor, Tilleman and Ian John Lewis as judges. Immense.
Dave Oakes - February 4, 2012
That’s the money.
Scott Christ - February 4, 2012
two tough looking dudes
DPlainview - February 4, 2012
Aleskeev can really hit hard but is a touch chinny as well. Licina is a decent all-rounder but nothing special.
Dave Oakes - February 4, 2012
Licina vs Alexeev Round 1
Alexeev starting behind the jab and nicely so. He can really thump, so watch for that. Not the greatest chin on earth.
Alexeev cut near the right eye, but he’s doing all the work here really. Right to the body from Licina. Consistent jabs from Alexeev. Good left from Alexeev, right down the middle. Big left uppercuts coming from him now after the one lands. Right from Licina.
Alexeev 10-9

Licina vs Alekseev Round 2
I’ll get used to typing “Alekseev” now that all these guys are starting to push proper, non-Americanized spellings of their names.
Licina’s jab coming in better this round, and he lans a right hand. Van de Wiele is stopping the action to hold Licina’s hand and say “accidental headbutt.” Alright then. Yep, he’s cut too.
Van de Wiele CONSTANTLY breaking them up.
Alekseev with a left uppercut. stiff jab from Alekseev. Licina’s bleeding much worse, nose might be busted too. Left hand from Alekseev. Looks much stronger than Licina. Alekseev with good shots, Licina coming back with a right hand. Jab from Licina. Two lefts from Alekseev. Right hand from Licina. Alekseev finishes with a flurry.
Alekseev 10-9
Alekseev 20-18

Licina getting beaten up

Licina vs Alekseev Round 3
Licina starting to turn it up a bit this round, landing stiff jabs and good body shots. Left and a right from Licina. Right to the body. Alekseev back with a left to the body, doesn’t get there. Licina having a very nice round here. Low shot from Licina, on the hip. Alekseev with a flurry trying to nip the round.
Licina 10-9
Alekseev 29-28
Scott Christ - February 4, 2012
Not bad for Licina.
DrRck - February 4, 2012
The problem with the server lasted for quite a while for me. I thought that Scott had banned me under a “No Stupidity” clause.
DrRck - February 4, 2012
It’s ongoing. Tech guys are staying on it, but it’s an issue.
Scott Christ - February 4, 2012
I understand. And I’m still stupid.
DrRck - February 4, 2012
Lol
to the above.
Not because i think you are stupid, because i like your sense of humour.
Matt Mosley - February 4, 2012
I was serious.
DrRck - February 4, 2012
Alekseev’s best punch is that left uppercut
DPlainview - February 4, 2012
Licina vs Alekseev Round 4
The fight lacks…I dunno, spark or something. tough act to follow, though, and both are fighting.
Physical fight, this one. Liked what Alekseev did this round.
Alekseev 10-9
Alekseev 39-37
Scott Christ - February 4, 2012
Tough act to follow was my thought as well.
DrRck - February 4, 2012
On its own, this is not a snooze, although not exactly gripping either.
DrRck - February 4, 2012
Licina vs Alekseev Round 5
Alekseev comes right out with the pressure. That left uppercut has been his money punch and may eventually be a bomb. Licina digging to the body. Right hand upstairs from Licina. Alekseev drills him with a good straight left. Licina now spending more time in the high guard than firing back. Another good left down the pipe. That power from Alekseev just looks like it’s going to break Licina down to me. Uppercut lands again. Back to the body. Another left. Big round for Alekseev.
Alekseev 10-9
Alekseev 49-46
Scott Christ - February 4, 2012
Licina has moments, here and there, and then disappears. Some good infighting earlier.
DrRck - February 4, 2012
Licina vs Alekseev Round 6
Alekseev pressuring again to start, then Licina with a nice body and head combo. Alekseev coming right back though. Licina hasn’t budged him thus far. Alekseev with hard shots, now throwing his hands. Right hand from Licina. Right to the body from Licina, and Alekseev with a big left in return. Licina building up some momentum right now. Getting physical because he has to. Licina having a nice round here, but still eating leather, and Alekseev finishes the round strong catching him a few times.
Licina 10-9
Alekseev 58-56
Scott Christ - February 4, 2012
Alekseev’s. I get the feeling that Alekseev hasn’t been hurt by Licina, and so he’s just coming at him.
DrRck - February 4, 2012
Alekseev has good technical skills…………………probably Lebedev’s best win.
DPlainview - February 4, 2012
Licina vs Alekseev Round 7
Licina battering the belt line. He’s got to be careful, he’s been warned about low shots. Alekseev back to that uppercut. Licina is in this fight, but Alekseev just appears to be too big and too strong. Licina can’t keep him off for long enough to keep any momentum or true rhythm. Alekseev with a left to the body. Right hook and left hand from Alekseev, and another left. Then the uppercut.
Alekseev 10-9
Alekseev 68-65
Scott Christ - February 4, 2012
Alekseev’s again.
DrRck - February 4, 2012
Licina vs Alekseev Round 8
Alekseev starts the round quickly again. Just too consistently busy. Not a fast pace, but a good pace, and one that won’t tire him out. What Licina does well is pretty regularly countered with better shots from Alekseev. Hard left uppercut and then a straight shot behind it. Right uppercut from Alekseev.
Alekseev 10-9
Alekseev 78-74
Scott Christ - February 4, 2012
Licina’s trainer: Throw the 1-2 for fuckssakes! Harsh but accurate.

Licina vs Alekseev Round 9
Alekseev has broken him mentally, I think. He’s there, but he’s lost pretty much all confidence. Alekseev is just too much for him physically.
Alekseev 10-9
Alekseev 88-83

Licina vs Alekseev Round 10
There’s basically nothing Licina can do with this guy. He takes a good shot, Licina does, but it’s become pretty much one-way action, even when Licina’s landing. Nice uppercut from Alekseev. uppercut back from Licina, not same quality. Right hand and a straight left from Alekseev. Referee is starting to get anxious here. Licina’s workrate has dipped badly.
Alekseev 10-9
Alekseev 98-92
Scott Christ - February 4, 2012
Nearly bedtime for this writer. I hope these two rounds go quickly.

Licina vs Alekseev Round 11
Licina really giving his best effort in this round, not as out of it as I thought he was. But Alekseev still too strong, still pushing him back.
Alekseev 10-9
Alekseev 108-101
Scott Christ - February 4, 2012
T least Licina is still throwing something sometimes.
DrRck - February 4, 2012
Licina vs Alekseev Round 12
Alekseev landing heavy shots still. Licina has a lot of grit and a good chin, and he’s fighting again this round, but power has been the difference all night. what an effort from Licina these last two rounds. Big uppercut from Alekseev at 40 seconds to go.
Alekseev 10-9
Alekseev 118-110

Licina didn’t give up, and I think he did whatever he was capable of.
