Juan Manuel Marquez was set for a March 17 tune-up before a potential fight against WBA and IBF junior welterweight titlist Lamont Peterson, but that may be pushed back until April 14 or April 21 in Mexico. Peterson may also fight on the card, and David Diaz has been rumored as a Marquez opponent.

A fight between Marquez and Peterson, which is being targeted for July 14 in Cowboys Stadium, would be on PPV, according to Ernesto Castellanos.

That may disappoint some, but truthfully it's not going to be a cheap fight to make, would be a big knock into the HBO budget, and look, if you're going to book Cowboys Stadium, you don't want to do it with a card that has one or two televised fights. To get a crowd in there, they're going to have to load that baby up with good fights, and you'd want those good fights seen on TV.

It's one of those fights where PPV actually makes sense, both for the promoters and the TV network. It's not that it'll be some huge seller, it's that it's an expensive card, most likely. This is the sort of fight I don't mind paying to see -- it's got a lot of potential to be a very good or even great fight, and with a nice action undercard, it could be a very enjoyable summer night card.

Much as PPV might make sense, the disappointing sales numbers to come will also make a certain sort of sense.

I wont be paying for this PPV.

I wont be one of the 40,000 in attendance either. LOL. I’d rather see the Khan rematch. JMM can go back to 135 and fight winner of Rios and Gambia.

Marquez probably can’t make 135 anymore since he has bulked up so much, and I’d rather Marquez vs Peterson on regular HBO, this can’t be anything less than spectacular. I know Marquez wouldn’t run for majority of the fight.

I realy good undercard is what is needed for this not to bomb out. But you can never trust a promoter to do what the fans actually wana see and might be full of name fighters taking on some guy who they will look good against.

If this has a good undercard, I'll buy it.

I truly love watching Marquez do his thing, but it would take more than him fighting Peterson for me to shell out PPV money. Give me two other intriguing fights, and I’m in.
