Demetrius Andrade has another new opponent in this week's Friday Night Fights main event, and the finalized bout will see the former Olympian face Chicago's Angel Hernandez.
Andrade was originally slated to face Derek Ennis, who came down ill and was then replaced by Terrance Cauthen yesterday. The Star Boxing press release says nothing about Cauthen or what happened with that fight, but a guess would tell us that Andrade and his team were more upset about the idea of facing a southpaw on three days' notice than was originally described, and frankly that's fair enough.

Hernandez (30-10, 17 KO) is an OK club fighter, but let's not make more of this than is really there. For a guy on two days' notice, he's a fine choice. Star Boxing president Joe DeGuardia makes note of what Hernandez has done in the ring.
"We're very fortunate to find a solid veteran like Angel Hernandez as a late replacement," DeGuardia said. "He's been in with some of the best and beaten the likes of Juan Carlos Candelo, Frankie Randall, James McGirt, Larry Marks, and Antwun Echols. We expect him to be a solid test for Demetrius."
What DeGuardia does not mention is that Hernandez, 36, has lost three straight fights to Peter Manfredo Jr, Osumanu Adama, and Joey Hernandez.
Just like Cauthen, and frankly just like Ennis, this likely won't be a huge test for "Boo Boo" Andrade (15-0, 10 KO), who should be able to win this thing without a lot of trouble. He's simply too good a boxer to have much trouble with someone as limited as Hernandez.

It’s also probably not great when your best wins are over guys whose primes were 20 years ago.

Ha, I actually he might have beat a late-career Buddy McGirt. It was his son! Comment still stands with guys like Randall and Echols though.

Rafael says Cauthen didn’t send back a signed contract and they had to move on since the fight’s in two days.

apparently Cauthen is going to take on Thomas Dulormoe instead.. Glad they found him an opponent even if its someone he should destroy.

Two better fights honestly
Dulorme could use another fight against a southpaw, and at least Hernandez tries to fight and won’t make a Boo Boo fight awful to watch.
I have so little interest in Andrade though…dude just rubs me completely the wrong way and literally has never been in an entertaining fight. He’s Brad Solomon with more name recognition.
